Just FYI with the original toy, i think you're meant to use a “fruit roll up” or “fruit by the foot” for the cheese, you'd just cut it out of the yellow bit, and you'd use a red and green one for the tomato and gherkin. I think we did have them in the UK when i was younger, around 20 years ago, not sure if we still have them.

I have such fond memories of this EXACT set when I was a little kid.🥹 Smelling cinnamon sugar still makes me think of this toy. We made the french fries with white bread and cinnamon sugar dusted on it for "salt." Also pressed white bread for the buns. I think we used red and yellow frosting in the condiments? (I don't emntirely recall the container you used for the beef, my gut says like a flurry maker?) Thanks for the memories!

@StephieDee83Ай бұрын
I think if you make the suggested recipe using the rice krispie treat as the burger, the tomato, pickles and cheese are cut from a fruit roll-up or fruit leather type thing, so a lot thinner than a real gherkin or tomato, like paper thin.

@FireStormDelАй бұрын
From what I recall, the burgers it made were made from rice crispies, which got ground up and mixed with peanut butter that you put in the mixing section beforehand, mix that then add chocolate milkshake powder, add water and mix until thick then start moving servings into the opening. I imagine you could also use plain non-hazelnut chocolate spread instead of peanut butter and chocolate milkshake powder if you can't have nuts. The buns were meant to be small round biscuits like Nilla Wafers, the sauces were cake icing, and the other toppings were made from Fruit Roll-Ups, so using it now, you'd have to find substitutes since I don't think we have Fruit Roll-Ups or Nilla Wafers in the UK.
@handsoffmycactus2958Ай бұрын

Yes, it was a lot of fun watching you use that toy to make real burgers. Incidentally, if McDonald’s sold mini burgers like that I would happily buy them by the dozen. @bobblebardsleyАй бұрын
Since you mentioned it, most McDonalds burgers are made upside down. You take the toasted bun lid, put mustard and ketchup, onions, pickles, lettuce, tomato (if the burger has it) and cheese. Then you put the burger patty on, sometimes followed by a second slice of cheese, then the bottom of the bun. Flip it over to serve. Big Macs are the exception - they're made the right way up. If you look at McDonalds menu photos, you'll see the lettuce/cheese etc on a Big Mac is beneath the burger patty, whereas on everything else, the lettuce/cheese etc is on top. I'm actually really impressed by this toy, what you ended up with is a decent impression of a McDonalds burger!
@TheEamzАй бұрын
that explains why the burger bun lids are squashed right?
@bobblebardsleyАй бұрын
@TheEamz I think that's because of the toaster, it's like a hot plate with a lid that presses down on the bread slightly. Probably toasts faster that way, I'm not sure. Also it's 20 years since I worked there so any of this may have changed!
@akc5150Ай бұрын
Anyone else notice the fact that yes, you get beef, cheese, pickles, ketchup and mustard on a Maccies Cheeseburger, but ya don't get tomato? Wonder why they put that in there?
@clashblasterАй бұрын
There's been multiple McDonalds burgers with tomatoes in the past, but they always came with lettuce as well, so I think the real question is where's the lettuce in this kit?
@handsoffmycactus2958Ай бұрын

Gonna give a shoutout to PeanutButterGamer and his second channel @Peebs because he did a video on this (and the other McDonald's food maker toys). His came with the instructions and the recipe for the burgers: 1 teaspoon of peanut butter, 1/4 cup of crispy rice cereal, 2 teaspoons of chocolate drink mix, and 1 and a half teaspoons of water. The buns were vanilla wafer cookies. The ketchup and mustard were cake icing. The tomatoes, pickles, and cheese were cut out of fruit roll-ups. ...unfortunately, his burgers look more like poop than burgers... XD
