Nice Rig, I just got rid of my Ram 2500 Mega cab for a Tundra. Here's some advice, carry some tools and get familiar with working on them. They're great trucks when they're running, but can be a PITA, and everything Diesel is twice as expensive. It's a million mile motor with 20k mile parts. Definitely get to know the Edge, it is a great tool for trouble shooting problems that can pop up. Forget Turbo boost and all that crap, get to know your Exhaust Gas Temps, Fuel Rail pressure ( if it drops or throws a code, it could be anything from a clogged line or filter, to pump), Transmission temps and what the thresholds are so you know when to stop and not damage it, and EGR (delete it). Enjoy it, that's an awesome setup.

Jason get an RV scissor jack. They can lift 5000 lbs and go up 24" and super light compared to a farm jack. Mine throws my quad cab F150 up in the air like it's nothing. Also the nut on the end of it is a 3/4" nut so I take my impact and zip it's up. They are super cheap too, like $75 for a pair of them.

I bought a 2018 Tundra 4X4, TRD with the 5.7 and 4:10 rear 13 months ago...., great truck but struggled to pull my 24' boat with twins / 7,800 lbs or so.. Loved the truck but like you said, Toyota needs a diesel offering preferably 3/4 Ton.. (they are missing the boat) , I took a big hit and traded it in on a 2017 Ram 2500 4X4 with the Cummins with 42k miles... could not be happier tows my boat like it's not even there while getting 13 MPG the Tundra was getting 7... it gets 19 mpg empty... crazy, You will Love the Ram, especially that one... what a set up... awesome rig you got there... looking forward to you excursions... !!
@zxej68794 жыл бұрын
The Tacoma and Tundra have been built in Texas for quitea few years. My wife's Ram 2500 is a Mexican built truck. The Cummins is such a beast motor. Need a Pedal Commander to tone it down on icy roads!!! The Detroit TruTrac helps. 3.73 gears will help. 4.10's with 35's. And 4.56 with 37's. Should be a guide for good highway and overland driving. AEV has some good equipment. I run a Ram 1500 Ecodiesel. And while I already have the Bilstein 5100 shocks set at a 3" lift. And have readylift Uppercontrol arms. The AEV skid plate, lower control arm relocation, and differential relocation seems to be a well thought out design. My wife's truck will see more mods. But for now only has Eibach shocks, and carbon-metalic brake pads. As hardware upgrades. Running full synthetic 5w40 motor oil. With a K&N air filter, gets 21-25 mpg, at 75-60 mph. Tires are 275/70-18 General Grabbers on stock rims. Look forward to 35's and the 3.73 gears.

@@MinnesotaPikeVideos Sure they did. Brad on TrailRecon said he liked them and could see getting one sometime, way off in the future, but financially it just didn't make sense. Two weeks later he had one. Basically the same story with the others. I don't know, it just seems to put them in a different category the rest of us aren't part of and I don't care to be. Maybe it's just me though.

I'm sure someone else already said it, but tire pressure on HD trucks is higher than most people would expect. At stock tire sizes 2500 and 3500 RAM trucks with load range E tires the rated tire pressure is 70psi for the trucks rated load. Load range D tires are rated at 65 psi. I know the weight rating per load range changes with tire size, but I don't know the specifics. As you said you will have to look into it further. As you already know too low psi will destroy tires, a little low will affect tread wear and handling, too high for the carried load will affect tire wear, comfort and traction. The trick is to find the just right pressure. I installed load range D tires in the stock tire size on my Tundra. Stock they come with load range C. But the camper trailer we have is near the upper limit for payload and tow capacity. It was within the capacity of the old load range C tires, but I think I slightly overheated the tires because they started to show premature dry rot. Not enough over heating cause something catastrophic, but enough to shorten the tire life. I came to the conclusion that the load range C just didn't have a high enough rated pressure and the tire sidewalls flexed a little too much because of it. With the load range D tires I found I didn't need the full 65 psi, because the truck didn't have the payload for it, causing premature tire wear even when fully loaded. 50-55 psi seemed to be about right when towing the camper. And when unloaded the tire pressure on the drivers door frame is right even though the tires are rated higher. I kinda came to the conclusion that the air pressure carries the weight rating and tires are just built so that they can contain the air pressure needed for the weight rating. Or maybe I'm and idiot and completely wrong about it.

Jason, Congrats and super stoked about your new truck!! It is night and day from the 4 Runner, but tons of power and range with that diesel! What does your daughter think of it? I just got a 2020 Tacoma in quick sand like Mike LLOD’s. It has a power driver’s seat OMG right?! The tuning/gear hunting issue seems to be gone. But what is #2 complaint from owner’s? Lack of power or really gearing, which makes them dogs if u add bigger heavier tires. This is why I almost went with the JL Wrangler or Gladiator, of which I took both for a test drive. Plus, they have grab handles at all 4 doors and Taco only has one at Front passenger’s. This is crappy if u want to lift a Tacoma! Anyways, I am still happy with my new truck and I hope you are as well. Been a fan of your channel and can’t wait to watch some of your future content in the Prospector! See? that was a was all positive feed back. Stay Human and swell as well Brutha!

Had a 2002 Dodge Ram for 8 years. Nothing but regular oil changes, new tires, and new brakes, except an AC condenser fan needed replacing at one point. Other than that, it was incredibly reliable. Bought a 2019 Ram without hesitation just a month ago. Luckily, this one was already up-to-date with the recalls (typical of every new generation of vehicle, even Toyotas!).

@Jason Koertge to get the tire up to the swing out .... carry a board that will go from the low point in bumper to the ground ... roll the tire up and then you have significantly less distance to lift/move tire.... board can act as other things life a ramp for the back of truck or even a poor man's max trax. bed line(rough texture) the board for more traction on one side and then smooth bedline on the other for less rolling resistance when putting things in rear of truck.
