I bought an old Sling Shot dragster

This oldie needs a restoration. Looks like it hasn’t been raced in decades. Included with it was a giant junkyard 331 Hemi. Hopefully we can save that too & use it in this chassis. This will be a fun project

The chassis is a 1964 Doug kellison aa fuel dragster rail it was raced in 1964_1965-1966 old dragster like this used a moon fuel tank u are right this could be raced in nostalgia competition but only after welding joint are completely checked over and approved by nhra tech inspection

I drove something like this in 1970. Now only door cars because having the family jewels setting on that rear end is a little bit scary,

I would really go through this chassis carefully. Just in the video you can see where someone did a very bad job of shortening the car. If you look at the shoulder hoop, you see it ends in mid air and is supported by small rods. The top main rail goes back to the upright that has the angle iron attached. The top main rail originally connected to the end of the shoulder hoop. Further, it looks like the shoulder hoop has been bent a bit. Please have someone who knows tube chassis go over this very carefully before you try to drive it. I wish I could attach pictures so that I could show you what it should look like. Before I lost my vision, I used to build these. Be safe and have fun!!!

I sold this to a buddy about a month after this video. He has a nice collection of muscle cars & he’s got it in his building on display. He’s put a non running 426 Hemi engine in it with a supercharger. I made a video of him picking it up. I’ll see if I can find it. I never had plans to race it. I was going to restore it as much as possible & sell it. Ended up selling it before I ever got started on it. Thanks for the information 👍 I’ll pass it along to him

Im bringing my gasser east to NC in August (unless gas goes to 10 bucks a gallon). I want to do some test n tune at Fayetteville before hitting beech bend.

@@bobsclassiccarsparts8772 I understand exactly what you mean by that statement my friend and I will say that my Mom was the first one to day that after I showed and shared the last five videos. She said that motor out of the red one and the shifter also. Throw some paint like hugger Hemi on it she said and done. I was in disbelief, and she said what's a matter with that. I thought of suitcases of 100'$

Yep when I got it it had a 331 Hemi with it but this car was set up for a small block chevy so I sold the 331

That was just an engine out of the junkyard the seller packaged it with. It’s long gone. Sold it to a guy near Winston Salem.

Sold it a month later for a nice profit. There’s a video of it. Guy already has a Hemi in it & safely in his collection of cool cars. Didn’t waste a dime
