That auction is a bit sketchy. I thought Mecum is a reputable auction house but man this guy definitely got scammed. No bidders on the last two auctions over 100k and suddenly multiple bidders on this one? Should've haggle it for something below 200k. Mecum paid 234k to the owner? Should've just said well that sucks to be you. Probably they didn't pay 234k anyway.

The only use of that airframe is as a tourist exhibit. The cost to put it in the air would be several million dollars, and that is if it isn't corroded to bits. And if you can even find the necessary parts....

I've followed this dudes channel and watched the build since the start. personally his choice disappointed me. I would of fixed it up (to show standards) and sold it to a museum. 99% of these vintage luxury private jets where destroyed. the fact that this was was still mostly in tact and it belonged to the late great Elvis, would of gotten him some good money and been waaaay less gimmicky. I mean how many people are actually going to cough up the amount dude is asking for to rent his "limo" vs just renting a normal limo?

It's a shame it's going to be cut up and turned into a car instead of being restored and flown again (I know this is would be nearly impossible and would cost an unreal amount of money) but it's going to be cool seeing this turned into a RV!

It was actually impossible. You could never get replacement parts for the engines to get them rerated. No amount of money could have solved the problem save gutting it all and putting new turbines, etc in. At that point, is it even Elvis's plane anymore?

Yeah I doudt it would cost as much as the price he got it for... Also when has that mattered at all with vehicles people own? The frame and the inteor is the same so it is same plane Elvis owned... Also what museum ship is the same as it was when it was first built?

You know that you can scape planes for way more then just art right? Like who wouldn't want all those panels and inputs for their flight sim or Airplane mod? heck even the frame could be metaled down to make coins like the Space shuttles have. Edit: also you know that any car ever made regardless of condtion can be scaped for $500 so what makes you think an jet can't?
