I've always been jealous of your garden set up! I am slowly building a similar one for me and my son and your point about training with your kids is so true. I want my kids to see me working hard, this is is how we lead by examples as parents and make sure that they get the best start in life 🔥

For those who don’t have a garden space and still want to train at home, the B bars by Baseblocks are great, they allow you to do both pull-ups and dips using only one piece of equipment, a bit like the rings, but quite handy when it’s raining outside

I've seen those doing the rounds on instagram and youtube. Are they stable enough for pull ups and lever work? p.s. cheers for the shout 👊🏿

Yeah, stable enough for pull ups, levers, but not quite for muscle ups or other movements that use momentum

Yet another Great vid mate 👍 I'm constantly cycling through equipment (rings, weight vest, sandbag etc) just to change it up. On the rings atm and using sandbag for isolation stuff 🙂

Cheers, Ash! p.s. The rings really take it out of you, right? 😅

I think medium height parallettes are an underrated piece of equipment. You can do everything you might do on lower to the ground ones, but can also greatly increase the range of motion, particularly on pike push ups. A personal favorite of mine is decline push ups on medium height parallettes.
@CaliToTheCrowd
@CaliToTheCrowd 9 ай бұрын
I hear that! In pike push ups, it also means that your head can pass lower without as much lean as a box, meaning that it becomes easier to manage progressions as opposed to doing deep pike push ups on a box or platform good shout, Malcolm 👊🏿

Heya just wanted to say love the video it’s really informative. I’ve been interested in a garden setup for a while. My front lever keeps getting better on my doorway bar while I still can’t do a muscle up. What other exercises can an outdoor pull up bar used for? Thanks :)
@CaliToTheCrowd
@CaliToTheCrowd 9 ай бұрын
I couldn't recommend an outdoor bar set up highly enough. you have the outdoors, the sun - sometimes it's cold so you feel like you've got to hustle even more... I love it. I think if a doorway pull up bar has allowed you to do a bit, then great. But if you have goals of learning levers or muscle ups then I would 100% suggest moving away from a doorway set up. Falling from a doorway in a back lever is a fast way to get really messed up. Hope this helps! 👊🏿

Great video, Andrew. I agree with you on all points, except maybe parallettes. I find them to be valuable for learning some basic moves-shoulder stands, elbow levers and l sits. There is a bit of weirdness training on parallettes vs the floor. Skills do seem to be marginally easier on parallettes than the floor. But, l sits are exponentially harder from the floor, I can’t come close to doing one off the floor. I bought a weight belt for pull-ups, but I think at my level just using band assists and paused reps do me more good than adding additional weight to the exercise.

Thanks Bruce! And if it came across that I didn't like parallettes, that wasn't my intention - I use parallettes myself a lot! And you're right about the l-sit... on the floor, it is just an absolutely humbling skill, but that's why it's soo great keep up the hustle, Bruce! 👊🏿

@@CaliToTheCrowd There is more of a purist element to doing skills from the floor. I basically agree with you. Your review is helpful to anyone considering buying equipment.

Did you spend much time preparing the shoulder for front lever? I find my shoulder is having some inpingments ever since i've been training it seriously.

I personally have had to work on my shoulders a lot for when I learned the handstands and back lever, so I thinik I am reaping the benefits of that. if you need help with general shoulder conditioning, then check this out: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nIGmfmaunJtkg8k

Do you have any info on doing your own back-yard set up? I would like to hire someone to install one, but don't have the measurements, heights, spacing, bar sizes, etc. to tell them what I need them to do.
@CaliToTheCrowd
@CaliToTheCrowd 9 ай бұрын
Het Chris! so measurements will be dependent on what you are looking to do (just bars or if you also want dip bars, ladder bars etc.). That being said the hole in the ground will need to be at least a 1M deep, so the main thing to look out for is that you don't hit any electric, gas or water pipes when you're building one
