A lot of times, the knock-offs are made in the same plant as the name-brand items. Someone in the factory runs an extra shift, using the same designs, dies and tooling, but usually the cheapest materials they can source.

Some times the Chinese are the designers and people from all over the world travel there to find these products to put their logo on and sell them as originals. Then unaware consumers see that there is a generic product that looks as their branded one and think it's a knockoff. The mayority of social media viral products are like this.

The knock-off 940 seems to be based on the 940-1. Between the S90V blade material claim, the blue barrel spacers, and the handle scale materials, they are much closer to the -1 model (which would make sense as that was the highest end of the 940 models)

Yes, that was my observation as well. I actually bought one of the Wish ones just like this. As a knife I love it. I can't afford $200+ for a freaking knife, but for $20 I can't complain. Not to imply any of these are real but real counterfeits are a thing in China. Its not uncommon for manufacturers in China to produce more than their quota and sell the extras as counterfeits online. It is a real problem, its common with fishing gear, automotive tools, OBD scanners, a cheap shopper can find authentic fishing gear sold online (if its produced in China) for a lot less than retail. The average pay in China is about $10 USD per day, and that's considered very good money. Most live on less than $1 USD per day, so there is a market for authentic counterfeits online. A lot of people fight for having the highest quality fakes, some times they are real, some times they get the production information directly from the factory producing it. Often times they are not real but don't be surprised if one day you run into something that is identical because odds are there is a decent chance it is authentic, just produced without the companies permission.

That was a knock off of the 940-1 S90V not the original 940 Aluminum handle. You nailed it they never made that carbon fiber stripe handle and it's hilarious it says s90v. It almost looks like a mix of the 940-1 and the Cabela's exclusive 940 with the wood bolster. Benchmade's s90v is very distinct in appreance as it has an extremely toothy edge and a lot of vanadium content that you can actually see in the blade. It's also is a bit darker, more stonewashed color than most s90v like Spyderco does. For 14 bucks I'm actually really impressed that the axis lock even worked so well.

Not trying to be *like* another company’s product, but pretending to actually *be* another company’s product. Microtech gets counterfeits sent in all the time for warranty work, from people thinking they have the real thing. @@jdisdetermined those semantics are made up. A clone is a 1 to 1 copy, same as a counterfeit. I hear people trying to make this argument over semantics distinguishing between a clone and a counterfeit, all the time in the high end vape community, and it's just false. If their intention is to make it look like the original enough that some people don't know, it's a counterfeit or clone; whatever you want to call it. This is regardless of whether they put a logo on it or not. The whole "they didn't put a logo on it, so they're not trying to pass it off as real," is nonsense. It's a Lamy All star rollerball. Everything looks right. The pen itself has nothing I can identify as fake. The box though says Made in China. As far as I know, Lamy produces everything in-house in Germany also, the vendor has a running production of my color of pen which I found out later is a limited edition and should no longer be in production.

I'm sure someone else mentioned, that is a Benchmade 940-1 counterfeit. The Benchmade 940-1 has carbon fiber scales and the blade steel is S90V. Real Microtech OTFs can partially deploy too. The double action OTF blade glides freely from the locked in and out positions. Unless something actually breaks, just pull the blade fully forward to engage the front lock and it will work again. Things, such as springs and spring tabs sometimes break, on both real and counterfeit OTF knives.

Don’t feel too bad, by the time a brand has paid for branding, importing, marketing, staff, refunds and everything else the profits are around 20 to 30 percent per item. Well I don’t fully disagree, some items are made with high quality materials and go through more quality testing to ensure that your item isn’t going to fall right apart on you. These items from wish are able to skirt the copy right laws completely as they simply don’t function the same ways here in the US. So they can brand far far, far more cheap material/ products as the real deal at heavy fractions mainly because it’s just that the items cost the fraction to produce

I think the gear ( junk ) that you reviewed was good at one thing. That is letting people know of knockoffs is not quality. Now I don’t think you can legally give links to counterfeit items anyway and should you ….No. Now the wallet is did show a company can see a wallet for less if they wanted to. Because if a counterfeit company can stay in business so can the other company. Now most companies made the prototype than send it off for mass production and after the run sometimes the manufacturer keeps on making them. Just look at beretta 92 and Taurus pt92. And the list goes on.
@ryanramsey9621
@ryanramsey9621 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Evil, taurus didn't knock off the 92 FS see Beretta had a factory built in the 70s to make the model 92 for the Brasilian government. Well the contract ran out and the machines were outdated and worn so Beretta was going to scuttle them at sea but Forjas Taurus came up with money to buy the machines and tooling. Beretta made money and Taurus got the right to make a similar good quality 9mm pistol. They do resemble the Beretta however not any of the functioning parts are interchangeable that includes the magazines. A Beretta mag will not work in the PT92 and the opposite is true as well. So it is not a mere knockoff. The design is similar but it's just the overall anesthetic bro. Ever wonder why the Taurus revolvers got better in the late 90s to early 2000s? It's because Smith and Wesson had a partnership to have some castings made at the Taurus foundry and they had a good relationship so S and W taught Taurus how to improve upon their affordable yet decent quality pistols. You simply can't beat a Taurus G3 9mm for the price if you need a good dependable handgun in 9mm for under 300 usd when on sale. They are not as nice as Glock or Sig but they are dependable. Now let's talk about Springfield totally ripping off the HS2000 pistol from the Czechs from HS produkt. They ONLY ADDED THEIR LOGO OF CROSSED CANNONS AND CHARGE 600 INSTEAD OF 189 WHICH WAS THE original retail price of the "XD" line of pistols. They charge 2k for the battle rifle designed by HS produkt as well. It's a really nicely built bullpup 5.56mm rifle that I do believe takes AR type mags. The Czech army has really good quality weapons. Springfield even sells $800 1911 .45 acp caliber pistols that have Made in Brazil stamped on the inside of the slide. Do you want to guess what foundry those frames and slides come from when made in Brasil? Yes Taurus lol I'm not a tard I do use the correct non American spelling of Brasil normally. The other was a quote of the stamping I witnessed. Hope you enjoy as many guns as possible buddy. I read all this info from several gun publications so I figured I would pass along the info. Let's all stay locked and loaded to defend our rights and our am American freedoms.

On the micro nock off I have one of both the real knife and the nock off they have a manufacturing defect in them as the back side of the blade that stays in the handle the deploying spring slips a lot it needs a stud on this part of the blade and is missing it but lf you get a stronger square ( rectangular spring to replace the standard round one the end of the spring can be placed over the blade stops that keep the blade from shooting completely out of the handle making it into a blade gun and will fix the problem. It does work but the knife is basically a stiletto style knife that is illegal in most states unless you are military ( active ) or law enforcement ( federal ) if in your possession and carrying said knife it is usually a felony class b or misdemeanor depending on state living in. In your case make a pivot point from the handle and make movement like using a scissor with two hands.
