Would you possible be able to have a look at a projector hdmi board with a fan fault, projector shuts down after 10 mins of use with a fan fault yet all fans are working(projector works fine other than this shutdown issue)

I've been watching loads of your vids after finding you a few months ago and I never thought I'd find someone fixing gaming tech so interesting. I was just thinking that I've learned more about the inside of my consoles from you in the last few weeks than I did from playing them for over 40years. How mad is that? I bought last year for the majestic price of £17 an early Switch, was told it was buggered and when it arrived I put a charge into it and it lit up, touchscreen fine, cheap joycons I bought for it working perfectly, one of the things stated was it didn't dock and it did for me but now it doesn't so that part came true... Put a new improved battery in it as the original one held less charge than a one legged man doing the hokey cokey. I also knackered the SD card reader, bought a cheap replacement but lack the courage to do any more as being much older than the usual lot me eyes are def a problem and now have three pairs of glasses, one for driving (perfect long vision), one for reading and video watching bumble about set and a set of milk bottle bottoms for my watchmaking and other squinty eyed messing about.

Take your Doner board an put it on a plate you can remove an use an put on the wall as a testing board.. I had a few friends that did that with old systems, tho youll catch different boards, that youll come across also as you come across those you could do the same and youll see what got changed or engineered differenty, as boards do get changed or scrapped often and worse.. This might be a novice question but how do you know it requires the daughter board and they haven't come from digital editions? Is there a particular connector for them or something? Or is there a number stamped to the board?

Yeah the digital boards are likely missing components and or the disc drive connectors. He could instantly tell if they was digital or not. Anyone selling these should include the bare disc drive board.

why don't these "unfixable" boards come with the daughterboard? Just to prevent them to be resold? and: with that mad skillz, is there no way to downgrade their firmware? like popping out the flash and putting a different image on them? does the APU have fuses that they blow to prevent downgrades?

I hope you read my comment but you CAN update and use that PS5 console without the original daughter board (with digital games of course), you just need another daughter board to be able to update the console. a month ago i bought a Blu Ray edition PS5 for parts but it didn´t come with the disc drive. The problem was just a shorted cap and just like you i thought there´s was nothing else i could do to play games on it but i decided to give it a try at installing a disc drive i had laying around from a donor board i wasn´t able to fix and try to update the console and IT WORKED (i thought it was like the PS4 when no original daughter board meant game over but it´s not the case on PS5). Of course you can´t play disc games because it´s not the original daughter board but it works just fine with digital games. I hope it helps. What i want to try is swap the APU and other components married to the daughter board i used and install them on the PS5 i repaired hoping to have a fully working console but do you know wich components are married so i can swap them all?

Yeah I've been working on a couple of ways myself too bud. I'll give that a try but I've found a way to do it which I'll show in a video soon I'll also be planning an APU swap too 😁 for the apu swap you only need the APU, matching daughter board and bios ic

i wonder phil is it possible to add a external blu ray drive, to ps5 , see if that works,, give it a try.. never tried on ps5. is it possible to dump flash to see drive keys. at all . if u have working drive and working flash. u could dump both, and check for 16bit keys to see if anywhere there are 16bit data lines that match, these could be drive keys.

I have an expensive ASUS ROG STRIX Z690-F GAMING WIFI ATX Motherboard that was faulty out of the box with no display. There were no bent pins until I went to put the CPU cover on to protect the pins and ended up bending 2 pins. I'm wondering if this motherboard would be any good to you for channel for content. If it was originally a disc drive system, there is an additional circuit on the board for that. It is also paired to the APU, so when it's not there, the system knows. When updating, it does a check of all the components, including the disc drive, if paired. If something is missing or not working, the update fails. A digital edition is missing that extra circuit for the disc drive, and also has a very slightly different bios, so it doesn't check for the disc drive. A disc edition console can never work without that disc drive daughter board.
