I wonder how much extra it would cost to outfit the mainboards with sockets for all the big BGA chips, like APU, southbridge/northbridge, SSD controller, SSD storage, RAM. I don't know why I'm wondering this though, I've never purchased a PS5 (or series s/x), nor will I, HAH! Great work as always, mate!

Did a southbridge replacement today. Console powers on and functions fine... However you can not turn it off. Once power is applied it beeps on. If you shutdown the console as soon as it turns off it instantly turns back on. Anyone got a solution or idea why tf that's happening. 😅 btw thank you for doing what you do mate.

Nah they're failing at a normal rate to be honest. It's just that being a console tech I see a lot more PS5s on average

PS5 has outsold XSX quite significantly, and I also don’t think the average HDMI port wrestling ape just wanting a COD or FIFA machine would go out and get an XSX over a PS5, which has much more mindshare.

Taking care of your things can stop things like the heatsinks getting so clogged with dust that the console overheats, but it can't prevent things like a capacitor or chip failing prematurely. Settle down.

My brother’s launch PS4 used to sound like a 747 doing a wind shear escape manoeuvre a few years in, to the point he’d have to mute his mic during rounds in COD 😂 Cracked a couple of beers with him, stripped it down following a video guide, removed an absolute rug of dust and cat hair from the heatsink, slapped on fresh thermal paste and it was whisper quiet again. Couldn’t even hear it unless you got close.

Probably needs to be cleaned. Sounds like a over heating issue. I only know this from watching these vids. But ps5 runs harder when playing ps5 games. Ps4 games not so much so it runs cooler for them. He recently did a vid on this where it had the same issue 😁 hope this helps. Keep those systems clean everyone

​@@PSYCHOBABAYAGAI volunteer at a couple of local repair cafes, cleaning and other basic preventative maintenance would often mean people wouldn't even need us. I got a happy buzz after fixing a commercial blender last week, a cold solder joint had formed and was easily reflowed. Wow, that thing was powerful. Not so much satisfaction from removing a raisin from a stuck toaster mechanism. Or a vacuum cleaner with blocked filters. Clean your stuff folks!

@PSYCHOBABAYAGA I cleaned it 2 or 3 times and it plays ps4 games perfectly but with ps5 games it'll run maybe 5 to 20 minutes and cuts off everytime.

Ive got ps5 digital that will open and play apps but crashes when loadings games does anyone have any suggestions. I've opened it cleaned it the there was a dry spot on the apu that i cleaned and re spread the liquid metal but still the same. If i try to load a game a couple of time i get a green screen then it shuts it's self off.

Very likely faulty ram or apu related but it's difficult to say. Do you get an error code in the error logs (in system settings)?

The error code is CE-108255-1. I will have a look tonight and see if I get a different one after the green screen. Thank you for replying

@@garethlloyd48 yeah unfortunately there's no known guaranteed fix for that error code. It's usually an APU or RAM issue to be honest
