I Bought HEAVY DUTY 1 Ton Axles for my Squarebody Chevy! (Came with Super Swamper Boggers!!)

After a few years of searching I've finally found the axles I've been looking for. A 14 bolt full float rear and a Dana 60 kingpin front with a 4.10 gear ratio. Not only did I get the axles but they also came with a frame, high steer/crossover steering, 35" Super Swamper Boggers, and a 6 inch lift with shocks. I'm excited to dig into these and finally get them under my Chevy. In this video we get the frame up on the lift and remove the axles out from under it. Enjoy!

@@RDMotoring you lucky man! I've got an 88 gmc 1ton with the dana60 and 14bolt full floater and my frame just broke in half! And all I can find are 1/2tons here in Indiana, and so the hunt continues! LOL

That back differential is a full floater 3/4 ton 1 ton the center would stick out further

Is the frame a K30? Incase you fid not know the spring perch spacing on a 14ff out of a 1 ton is diffrent then a 3/4 and half ton. D60 is bolt in tho. If the axle was out of a K20 your good to go just need a conversion u joint. If its from a K30 you will need to move the perches

The axles are from a K30 but the frame I bought with them was a k10. Spring perches were already moved and they match

What’s so desirable about the kingpin Dana 60s I was going to buy 3/4 ton axles on Craigslist for a k10 I was building, and I ended up buying the guys truck in his shop he offered to me on 1 tons 6 in lift Dana 60s all around after I bought the the 3/4 ton axles on four in lift he showed me that truck in the shop for a deal…but I was driving the truck and it would only go about 60 mph so I was gonna switch to 3/4 ton for the gears but after seeing how long you looked for one tons I guess I should keep them? I was think of getting different gears in them if that’s possible but I’m still new to the gears and axles on these trucks any suggestions?

Kingpins are just a bit stronger for running larger tires, but 3/4 tons are good too as long as you aren't thrashing it off-road with 40" tires. It really depends what you want to do with the truck. As far as the low top speed you mentioned that can be fixed with taller gears in any axle. You said the one truck has Dana 60s all around? That's strange because the 60 is usually just a front axle for these trucks. The rear would be a 14 bolt full float if it was a 1 ton or a 14 bolt semi float if it was a 3/4 ton.

@@RDMotoring When I bought it he said it had Dana 60s one ton….he had the 3/4 tons on it then sold them to me and said he put one tons on it it and they are significantly bigger than the 3/4 I got….so the rear is a 14 bolt full float hood to know and I’ll look into changing gears I’m not running huge huge tires but It’s nice to know I can go that route I might get a different trans I got the ole 4 speed granny gear and thanks for sharing your knowledge sir!

Great video. Do you know if a 14b and a D60 from a 1988 K30 will work on a 1972 Jimmy?

The axle will fit but you'll have to relocate the shock mounts and spring perches

On a 70 suburban you’ll just have to change the rear shock mount. 14 bolt out of a 1 ton not a 3/4 ton the spring pads are in the right area.

Is the lift kit for 1/2 ton or 3/4 ton?

the rears are 52" which could be for a 1/2 or a 3/4 depending on the RPO codes. I believe it was a 6" spring lift for a k20 but I can't tell 100%. The only thing I know for sure is that the frame is a k10 and the axles are from a '76 K30

Front axles are 3/4 ton. Rear is 1 ton rated. Bv

Chevy made a 2wd 1 ton squarebody. 4x4 were 3 4 ton.

Any truck that was a 30's series is a 1 ton. You have both the K30 and C30 which where 4wd and 2wd respectively. GM only used the Dana 60 fronts in their 1 ton 4x4s from '77 to '91
