Interesting - You identified the baby seat as the design issue - I thought the design issue was simply the Ford Logo! Congratulations to you and your wife on the baby! If you look after the new truck it should last until your child's 16th birthday. All my Toyotas trucks have lasted 16 trouble free years - just follow the maintenance schedule!

Thank you, yes the baby seat is definitely an oversimplification of "issues" with the ford, but at the end of the day I can't complain. The ranger has treated me well the last 7 years! Thanks for watching.

I sort of joke about the Ford Logo - my favourite Graphic Designer (Massimo Vignelli) was commissioned by Ford to redesign their logo. He decided that it only needed a few minor tweaks to make it a bit more crisp. Vignelli and his wife were great designers. On another level I was run over by a Ford truck in 2014. The accident was horrific but at the end of the day I can honestly say “I am Ford Tough!” based on my recovery. One piece of advice - ditch the Good Year tires and get Michelin - they give a better ride and last longer!

As someone with a 3rd gen tacoma, a kid, a dog, and a small trailer.. I would LOVE to see what you do to it! Particularly if you make it modular and removable to convert the bed back and forth as needed. Commenting for the algorithm.

PS: I've also got an ARE topper on the thing. Having a sliding window on it that matched up with the rear tacoma window, plus a small bike inner rube to seal it, has been absolutely amazing for the occasional times the dog needs to ride in the bed because of additional passengers. I've sealed the bed, tailgate, and topper fairly well, so now running the AC or heat with the window open as a passage between the areas keeps the topper quite livable for him.
