If that was grease inside the wheel, the axle boot probably blew. I would check that and make sure that the grease is still in the boot, you may have to rebuild the axle. Also, it looks like the previous owner took off the exhaust manifold heat shield. These cars are notorious for catching on fire from an aftermarket manifold with no heat shield. Previous owner probably took off plastic wheel well liners because he was running big wheels and tires. I have 18x10.5s with 275 series tires and they rub like crazy on the wheel well liners.

Damn, I just paid way more for mine... its built tho. MPGs are out of wack. I cruise mine and it gives me 27-30.... but who cruises an Evo anyway, lol. Im still hunting little Evo bugs myself, so I know the feeling. Still, great cars for ripping

Cheapest I've seen thus far in Canada is 10k but it was a project car not a complete package. Most 08 evos up here are still asking 20k or more even if they over 200k kms
