I am glad to have seen this video. The undercarriage shots showing just how small the driveline components actually are, and how slow they are. I would think building an S-10 or Ranger or any old Toyota or Nissan pickup from the same year, would result in a much better truck for less money when it's fully roadworthy, which , these are far short of roadworthy and on any highways, you are a slow moving vehicle like a tractor with a line of cars behind. Thanks again. I can cross these things off my list now for sure.
@petersargeant15552 жыл бұрын
A local car dealership had kei trucks as parts delivery vehicles, they were fitted with bullbars. The drivers would clamp off the rear brake line and brake heavily in order to try to get them to roll forwards and stand momentarily on the bullbar before falling back (hopefully) onto it's wheels.

@CarsandCameras On my neighbor's almost identical kei truck the governor is controlled by the electric pickup on the speedometer drive unit on the transmission. Unplugging the electrical sensor while leaving the cable in place kept the speedometer operational but defeated the governor. GPS read 63mph and still accelerating before vibrations and instability (and a 40mph speed limit) required letting off.

These are officially imported in to the UK, badged, suzuki carry, or bedford rascal with i think a 970 cc in the UK. I was in the Royal Navy when i was younger, we used the pick up version in the Dockyards. Fun little thing, even the 970cc one has no go in first gear!
@handyhippie65483 жыл бұрын
this is the first left hand drive kei truck i've ever seen. i've got a mitsubishi mighty max truck. it's basically a dodge d50. these kei trucks are pretty good at what they were designed for. in japan they are the standard pick up truck. they're more useful and cheaper than a side by side. some of them have dump beds, are 4x4 and have ac. most parts are available online, and they are fairly simple. i'd say you got a hell of a deal with a twofer 2k.

@henryhb723 жыл бұрын
These trucks make great onsite mobile tool trucks. Greensboro, NC uses a small fleet of these style trucks for their work at TZO WWTP. Some have vinyl bed covers, most have multi drawer tool boxes, a couple even have welders, torches, chemical pumps, etc. They are way more efficient driving around site up close to the various equipment that needs work, than a full size street truck. Putting a small diesel driveline out of a Kabota RTV, or tractor, with a winch out front, and a rig up a mini tow rig hook out back, would make this a beast. Adding some old school Toyota SR5 leaf spring suspension, hubs and 31" tires, could make this a 1/2 ton rig for non stop track use fun.

We had those POS light trucks in the Marines in Beaufort S.C., we used em to run airplane parts up and down the flightline to and from supply. You can trick the governor if you reach top speed, then put it in first and do NOT let off the clutch all the way, just a bit to make the computer think you're in first. Then you get another 20 mph. Don't go past that, you'll blow the engine.
@PKMartin3 жыл бұрын
Bull bars and rally lights. I love the plan for genny and welder, toolboxes and stuff. I'd go lift/big tyres over slam/widen. If it's possible to get it road legal, the out-there plan would be a micro RV for your next road trip: shell on the back, camp bed, water tanks and butane stove, and perhaps a tent for Ike to sleep on a beach the way he seems to like doing. Also I guess it needs to have a tug o' war with whatever you have that will compete - maybe the Yerf dog?
