Good little vans mate, loads of potential with these. I bought my2.5 Tdi three years ago and I’m still not bored with it, mines on 230k and still reasonably tidy 👌

Perfect example of a used and abused vehicle 👍 The cover you pointed out by the crank pulley is protecting one of the power steering pipes. I will point out you should have a large pan under there protecting the lower part of the engine and gearbox. It also protects the electrical connectors mounted low down on the front of the engine block from rain/stones etc. Never a good idea to run without one. Looks a great project.

you need to check the underside with a fine tooth comb. The t4 is usually a rot box and rusts in some very strange places. Good luck with the build matey.

When you get a 20 y.o. t4 with obvious neglect, its really important to immediately fit 20mm spacers to the wheels to make them fit better to the arches.

I think this calls for a Dredd Fx paint job! With a huge Dude Stuff logo and artwork on the back. I'm sure you can tidy this up. I have faith in you. A friend of mine painted an old van with Hammerite and a rollerbrush, thinnered down, Nato green. It turned out much better than I expected! Buy the battery unit from a spares or repairs Tesla for cheap. Get some of those hubmotor wheels that Andy Kirby mentioned that can do upto 100hp each, get a huge controller and electrify it! That'd be amazing. To the Batmobile! The Dude mobile!

Hi mine has 240k on the clock, but I’ve nearly completed an engine conversion on mine (featured on my channnel, mine was a 1.9TD now it’s has a mk3 Golf 1.9 TDI in it, that I makes all the difference it was so slow before, the replay engine on had 120k on it. I’ll look forward to seeing the program on this van and I’ve just subbed 🙂👍

That is a very late T4. T5’s were available by the time your T4 was first registered, so I guess it must have been one of the last of the old model stock.
@antoniopalmero4063 Жыл бұрын
These t4 and the t5 always seem to have 200k plus on the clock which in my opinion is a testament to their ability . My friend bought a t4 brand new and serviced as per VW schedule but timing belt snapped which was the end of the engine and I think he paid about 6k for a new engine . There was a funny little rattle from the engine for a week before it went though .

How much did you pay for it? Good that it's had clutch and work done on engine. But I'd struggle to want to give more than 1500 quid for that age and mileage.

@GT.Bugger Жыл бұрын
Considering the mileage it's in reasonable condition outside. I'd love a vw transporter but unless it needs work like this the prices are way out of my reach. Its good that the rot has already been repaired on the arches, they're the first things I'd take on to stop them rusting out again, it's wild people just leave them in primer.
