I remember well when I worked for the Range Rover dealer in the Netherlands that this model came out. We had an orange demo model, which I sold not much later for just € 97,750 a real bargain. The woman who bought it wanted to take it to Croatia for vacation, and could not wait for the order to arrive so she bought the demo for the asking price. And the reputation of Range Rover did not fail, the car broke down half way through her trip. Had to tow it back (from Italy I think) and swap the engine after 1500km... I never felt so ashamed working there.

@@Decipher13 Did you hear what he said about resale values? The fact they`re still surprisingly valuable, shows they don't fit the definition of "undesirable", despite their horrible reputation.
@MrPabsUk2 ай бұрын
@@Decipher13 The Mustang II was never rare, as junky as it may or ay not have been, neither was the Trabant in its homeland. Both of them shed value like a piano falling off a cliff, the Evoque soft top was never common, mainly because it cost a lot compared to its rivals, & it was only intended to appeal to a tiny niche market, its not comparable with your examples, & as I said, its residuals are surprisingly solid, given its now old, has a worse rep than ever, & still only appeals to a tiny amount of people. The OP said he was surprised Hoovie trashed what seemed to be a fairly decent example, compared to some of the other commonly available junk he`s got his hands on & subsequently blown thousands on restoring, I think he`s right, it seems kinda ridiculous, but then, this is KZbin, & "big" KZbinrs sometimes pull stunts like that for likes, even when it contradicts who they usually are.

Have you seen what Mustang II survivors are getting these days? The King Cobra and Cobra IIs are now highly coveted thanks to boomers hogging all the good Mustangs.

Tyler, I'm a fan of Land Rover. I also understand your videos are meant for entertainment. The Evoque Convertible was really unpopular. Do with YOUR cars and YOUR money what you like. I have no issues with you having some fun and entertaining us. Please PLEASE don't stop your shenanigans....(just be safe and look after yourself)

When it debuted about 8 or 9 years ago, I thought this whole convertible crossover thing is the most brilliant idea Land Rover ever did. Now, it seems totally hilarious! Still, I'm thinking of trying to own one even for just a short period of time. 😂

Yeah, I figure the revenue from the two videos uploaded will likely justify this purchase. Local economy grows as Car Wizard fixes the trade-off for our entertainment, and Hoovie still ends up with a profitable sorted convertible Evoque.

I was an engineer at JLR when Bob Joyce, then director of engineering at JLR, announced to us in a company feedback that if JLR could reduce warranty claims by a certain %, then that would free up enough money to fund the Evoque convertible.
