As a former F-Type R owner, I'm looking forward to the car being restored. The 3.0 engines are reliable. The issue is Jaguar's insane 15K mile service intervals, which have been chewing up and sludging these 3.0s and 5.0s up (they are internally identical, the V6 is LITERALLY the V8 with the two cylinders not bored out). Do an oil change every 5K miles, and you'll be fine once the replacement motor is in. If you do decide to go V8, it is unlikely you'll need an all new wiring harness. Talk to Velocity AP, they have extensive knowledge on these and should be able to provide the correct answer.

The 5.0 and 3.0 are different in the bore and stroke as well. I work for an independent JLR shop and we save these engines all day long from the horrors of the dealership. Dealer says engine and we save it for over half the cost and it’s not uncommon to see these engines go over 200k if you treat them right

Great info for those of us who want to own one of these. Sounds exactly like a GM 3.6 and their terrible intervals and the results from that.

I think JR needs to rig up a harbor freight winch on his trailer, with an Anderson connector. Then get 12’-20’ of quality 1/0-2/0 gauge cable and a beefy lithium battery. Make a short lead with an Anderson connector on the battery, a short lead with the alligator clips, and Anderson connectors on both ends of the remaining cable. Then you can power the winch or jumpstart any vehicle with the lithium battery on the tailgate or something

TPU gets sticky, so what you want to do, is coat it in a mess of baby powder. Don't press babies in a press to make the powder, they sell it containers. The baby powder will bring the no stick feel back to normal as if new. It's a messy process as you work the powder into the TPU rubbery gum. I did this for a Ableton Push drum machine type of device that had the entire case sticky like your car's buttons when i bought it used. Now after treating it with the powder and wiping it down even using cuetips, its fine now. I just saved you a fortune.

Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Now they even want to slow down all the gas pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime.
