@DavidKD20505 ай бұрын
@@TheYugilicious no. Never done so before. After a few minutes I was being to think that it was dead. I assure you. Very gentle touch. I was well out of the way. Snake wasn’t unduly harassed. It would have soon needed to find a warm stop for the night anyway. It’s skin was unusually dull, this added to my, is it dead, question. It was unusually dark, blackish, for a brown snake. Too dull for a back snake, and I got a look under it, no red. Too thick for an eastern taipan snake I think. But its head was small, so I don’t know. It was a little too thick for your average black snake. Just spent 30 minutes reading up on snakes in my area, (mid north coast of NSW). I can’t come up with a better candidate than my first, considered, impression, a brown snake. Nothing else is a closer match. I am somewhat perturbed reading that it venom can kill in less than 30 minutes and is arguably the fastest acting venom in the world. My general caution, simply not walking in these dangerous areas when the conditions are such that I can’t reliably see snakes.

Such rare Australian snakes. At this rate you’ll probably find a nice Red Bellied Black Snake for sale somewhere. Seems like cost is of little concern. Lucky 😉. I’m glad this channel is doing well because it shows more responsible snake handling than say Chandler, Tyler Nolan, or DavidsFeed. They say they’re trying to get people to understand snakes more and not be so afraid, but then all they do is tease their snakes so they hood up and strike and such, giving the impression to the layman that snakes are way more psycho than they really are. It’s also mean to the snakes because it stresses the heck out of them. Some people don’t even realize that when a snake hoods it’s usually because you’re putting it on the defensive. Let alone when they start striking and such. Chandler for instance walks right into his King Cobras enclosure, and King Cobras are ultra-territorial so he just flipped his hiding spot and goes from 1-60 effing around. Tyler’s bite was from him teasing the eff out of an already shedding and stressed King Cobra. So yeah they do some good by educating people but they know they get more views if the snake is doing “crazy” defensive stuff, and I think that’s really harmful. Even Dingo who is so charming pushes the limits to get the snakes acting crazy. Then there’s the free handling which DavidsFeed is probably the biggest culprit, but Tyler and Chandler do it as well. You can tell people that you’re an expert and that nobody should copy you, but you know there’s people out there who are gonna do it because they say you do it. And it’s basically unnecessary. You should always use your tools. With King Cobra there’s some leeway but yeah. Such irresponsibility. “MikesReptiles” I think it’s called it probably the most down to earth keeper on KZbin. His snakes are mostly all chill because they aren’t being teased all the time.
@wolfpecker57105 ай бұрын
Yeah, you see way too many people free handling venomous snakes on KZbin for views. my boyfriend is not a fan of my single venomous spider who's very clumsy and shy and that it'd take a long series of colossal screwups to be bit by, and even then like 99% it wouldn't be fatal. I show him you to make me look sane lol. I may own something hot, but I cannot imagine having these.
@thebusdrrivertohell11 күн бұрын
Spoods don't generally act like "Yo I don't like your face. Here, lemme melt it off for ya" like some of these snakes. No heat on the man, his snakes, or his hobby/job, but I'd rather handle 100 medically significant spiders over 1 venomous snake.

The Coastal Taipan is very dangerous, but it isn't even the most dangerous snake in Australia. That honour goes to the Eastern Brown snake, which has extremely toxic venom and is a nervous and defensive snake. Next on the list is the Tiger snake, another snake with highly toxic venom and defensive disposition. Most snake bite deaths in Australia are from one of these two species. The Inland Taipan has the most toxic venom of any land snake on Earth, yet it is not considered to be as dangerous as the Eastern Brown, Tiger snake or Coastal Taipan because it lives in the empty arid inland regions of Australia and people rarely come into contact with them. They are also relatively calm and less inclined to strike. Which is just as well, because a bite would be almost certain death.

Im not a believer these should be collected outside of research and medical purposes. Reguardless, i appreciate how you cautiously handled them and didnt cowboy freestyle mess with them. That demonstrated the seriousness of these reptiles, thans you.

This is an issue for any zoo as well, though. He would literally have to evacuate with the snakes, which is easier to do than say, move lions and tigers and bears.

so incase you get bit by one of these snakes, do you keep anti venom for the specific venom at your place or would you need to go to the hospital.

I certainly hope he has some different kinds of anti-venom at his house because there are some snakes, like those coastal Taipans, which have a venom so potent that he would not likely survive until he gets to the ER/hospital.

On the one hand I think anyone collecting deadly venomous snakes is a can or two short of a case. On the other hand I totally get wanting to have some forbidden fruit hanging around. It has to be quite stimulating! After all, some people race cars at 250mph. Some people keep pit vipers. Risk. It’s all relative.

I’ve had over 40 snakes some wild caught some captive bred and I never quarantined any of them. Quarantine would apply more to wild caught but that’s a whole different thing. Anything purchased at an expo is used to being handled not so much in the wild
