I always use my kitchen shears for cutting pizza - works really well with the thin Italian base. Also, the pizza wheels can really damage your baking trays, plus you can't cut up to the edge if the pizza is within an inch of the tray's lip. I was tempted to buy a designated pizza shear, but I don't have pizza often enough to make it worth the expense.

The silicone pot strainer is a game changer. I always use it in lieu of the traditional collinder which is collecting dust in my cabinet! The "pop" apple slicer looks like a better alternative to my traditional apple slicer too.

Thank you so very much for this wonderful information, Kristen. I have a "kitchen tools" drawer that holds a lot of the gadgets I need to prepare homemade foods. Most of the time stuff just gets thrown into it. Once a year I go through it to reorganize everything. I throw out, or recycle anything not used. I'm going to get the pot strainer, pizza scissor, and the apple slicer. This is a great video.

We use the pop apple slicer for making apple sauce. We have 2 of them so two people can section and core apples. In the last 3 years we have processed 27 bushels of apples, 9 bushels per year and they still work amazing. Sharp, strong and efficient for coring and wedging the apples. The smaller slice is great because it cooks the apples faster. Fully recommend the pop corer slicer!!!

I actually recently bought a stainless steel apple cutter which cuts into 12 pieces and I think it's far superior to any plastic one I've owned, and for only a few dollars more. I think I paid $7 on Amazon. Highly highly recommend it!

I gave up on the bear claws to shred meat. Instead I use a tall bowl and a hand mixer for a couple of seconds. Pork, chicken, beef... it all shreds quickly! Love the pot strainer.

I shred my meats with my hand mixer. But I've been considering getting some of the bear claws shredders. Sometimes the mixer makes a mess, if the chicken, or other meat, is cooked in a liquid (not boiled in water). I like to shred the meat while it's still in the pot, and not have to take it out, shred, then put back in.

I had one of those apple slicers and never knew that bottom part popped out the apples, haha! Oh and I got one of those pasta strainers and didn’t know they came in different sizes or something because the one I got is tiny! I can use it on my smallest pot other wise all past just goes around the sides of it and over the top. I was really disappointed. I found it by going through another KZbinrs link on her page too and the one she used was not little.

I got the strainer and the chicken shredder. With the shredder, it works better when the chicken is warm. I use mine all the time for chicken and pork.

I have been cutting pizza with regular kitchen sheers for years. I get a kick out of the reaction of someone seeing it for the first time. So simple it's genius. Much easier, quicker, neater than a pizza cutter and you have better control. No need for a fancy gadget. Just usual kitchen sheers. Have fun.

Wow, thanks for trying all of those! :) My parents always had such a nice apple slicer that I used growing up in the 80’s, but I just haven’t ever purchased one, and I cut a ton of apples, so I’m going to use your tips, because they just don’t make them like they used to. I’ve seen you use your pot strainer, but my pasta pots have strainers, so I didn’t think I needed that until today when you said, Instant Pot, and showed a sauce pan!! I always need something to help strain grease!! Getting that now! Lol And I don’t cook that many frozen pizzas, mostly takeout, but I was thinking, I could use those pizza scissors on way more than pizza! Good to know and thanks for this! I use regular OXO kitchen shears and was always curious about the pizza scissors, but figured they wouldn't be much different - or not enough to buy another gadget. But if you tried them and think they're way better than regular shears, I'm going to have take the plunge - and then kick myself that I didn't jump on them in the 80s or 90s when they first appeared! I could have been using them all these years!! 😕

Chicken is easier to shred when it is hot. You were shredding cold verses hot. You can also use your stand mixer.
