What a package. It's almost like Dji - Listens to their customers. Unlike the arrogant Go-Pro company. Wireless mic, no silly media mod. extra battery power, great low light performance, very capable gimbal with a great follow mode. I had the Pocket 1, but this is a whole lot of steps up and it's only version 3. Makes you wonder what Go-Pro is doing all these years. They have certainly been swallowed up by the chasing crowd. DJI and Insta are customer focused and giving us what we want. Fantastic review. Thanks Steve. Onwards and Upwards.

@@SteveWB I hate Go-Pro with a passion. I've had three, none of them used for anything other than vlogging and they all were just full of problems and none of them lasted 18 months.

GoPro 12 has Bluetooth for microphones. But the Pocket being not weather/dust sealed makes it a non starter and absolutely useless for me. I had the pocket 2 and that, along with a removable battery was all I wanted added. I've never had a single issue with any GoPro I have ever had. I think their issues are grossly overstated.

@@strongereveryday2302 I didn't know about Go-Pro and Wifi, I've been off team Go-Pro since 9. As for the issues being overstated. My experience and that of plenty of others would say other wise. But, each to their own. I don't really think the Pocket should be compared to a Go_pro anyway. One is an action camera the other a vlogging camera.

That dynamic range is BLOODY impressive. Looks like a great run-n-gun cam for low-light wedding video videography that will give you incredible angles that were impossible before, especially in strobing party lights. That requires extremely good dynamic range AND noise at a relatively high ISO.

Is the mic that your wearing able to pick them up? Or will the internal mic on the camera capture their voice.

The camera will only record audio through the mic you are wearing so you will be loud and the person you are talking to will be low.

I understand the DJI 3 only comes with one Mic2 and you cannot buy another one at the moment.....does the gimbal record audio at the same time as the mic? so you and the subject both are being recorded? Or can you use different mics to capitalize on the wireless capability of the unit?

The wireless mic does internal recording if you want a back up track but sound only comes from the external mic when used. You can use any mic if you use a usbc to 3.5mm adapter with a trs to trrs cable

Great video, I had to return mine. The video kept showing up blank on the mino app. The Best Buy geek squad cloud not figure it out. What phone do you have and what so card did you use? This pocket 3 didn’t work for my iPhone 14 pro max or my iPad m2 chip.

I have the Iphone 14 promax and I edit on a mac mini. I did have to update my Mimo app but had no issues. I used the app to shoot a couple shorts.

It fits pretty tight. I don’t have the 2 to compare it to. If brushed hard enough it will fall of but I think it will stay for normal use

Lol, don't trust the magnet. Physics doesn't lie. The best you can do is to position it until you hear soft click (indicating it's secured with all that tiny magnet can do) and it's pretty safe until you bump it, physically, hard enough to fall off.

I'd like to ask one question. If you attach the battery handle, will it deplete that battery handle first before consuming the built in battery, no matter the scenario? Let's say, if you want unlimited battery without power bank dangling, you can just have 2-3 battery handle and replace them like a gun magazine

The handle will keep the camera battery charged then once the handle battery is depleted then the camera battery will start depleting.

Just set it in auto and it will increase the shutter to compensate. You won't get natural motion blur but it will get you through until filters are available.

I own both the pocket 3 and the osmo action 4 and their both amazing, but honestly the fact that the pocket 3 has a microphone that has a receiver already built inside the pocket 3 is so awesome the transmitter connects automatically once you turn it on! This pocket 3 is amazing, but if your thinking of using it more for sports or rougher situations maybe get the action 4, since the gimbal part might be more sensitive in terms of not breaking and when I say rougher situations I mean like if your going to be doing extreme stuff other than that the pocket 3 can handle it all almost

Great video! this is really looking to shape up well for me. I do have two questions: I see you have rc's behind you. Im interested seeing if the tracking can track a crawler, fast stuff would be cool too. Also how does it handle fluorescent lighting. Some of my how to vids are in a shop space so the lighting is terrible and I don't have time to set up nice lights in that situation. Thanks again!

My pocket 1 lasted until I dropped it in a soda. I even dropped in once on concrete and it landed on the gimble! It was fine! So they are tough. Don’t get it wet. Light drizzle at most. I don’t recommend dropping it at all because results may vary lol

I think it’s incorrect to suggest this is the same as the DJI mic just that it connects directly to the pocket. I f you look at the reviews from those who got the product early to review a few suggest they’ve been told they can’t discuss the mic under NDA until it’s separately launched in its own right. Others have pointed out that if you download the Pocket 3 manual it’s revealed that the mic is indeed next generation - it supports 32 bui float (no more distortion or over recording) and even has onboard recording (assuming these reports are correct). That’s a huge improvement over the original DJI mic.

impressive footage 4k@24, low light is awesome, sound on board is great I’d say volume is about 50% on hand held? standard was clear, probably has so,e sort of auto ISO adjust in darker conditions, and that pup is adorable.

Thanks She is a great little pup. You can manually adjust shutter and ISO if you choose as well. I prefer to lock my exposure at night to get a more realistic look.

And isn’t it funny, how you are the only person to even mention overheating concerns (albeit it seems reasonable) along with a few other concerns. I didn't see a big difference either. and the wireless mic was great because it was very windy most of the day but if you had a wind muff for the camera you may not need it. The wireless mic also offers internal recording.

You can use a USB Mic with this camera if you also purchase the battery handle, there’s no 3.5mm mic input.

My one overheated too. In 13 minutes. Similar conditions. 21oC room. Standing on table. 4k30p, no other function active. I am talking to DJI right now. If they do not solve this then I will return it. As the overheating makes it totally useless. I cannot imagine how it would work when in more warm environment (like summer, 30+oC, direct sunshine, ...)... Which is really pity, as functionally, it is really exceptional device...

I bet it will be overheating much more, as it now already overheats under the moderate conditions. I spoke to DJI. They "escalated" it to some team. If they do not provide the solution within 2 days (that is remainder of the legal period to return it without any obstructions from the reseller), I will return my one (which is really pity, as functionally, I just love it).@@SteveWB

I did the "FINAL" test: 1080P30, Normal color mode: After 80 minutes, the device became so hot, it was hardly possible to touch the gimbal motors: It was too much, the rotation of the display is not working any more: Most probably some plastic components are deformed by the heat...

You can do internal recordings and my computer says it is in 24 bits per sample and 48khz

thanks so much for the video , I also tried APSC sony cameras , image is nice but usability is poor , stabilization also is very bad in my opinion compared to something like this , for outdoor filming I think the Pocket 3 is the best camera right now for ease of use , good audio with wireless mic , I have ordered mine as well , can't wait to play with it

Sony is never good with stabilization. You want panasonic for that. The new g9 ii basically gimbal like in handhelf

As far as i know, the dji mic 2 supports 32bit float, and the official release of it will be in November.(all rumors, no reliable source)
