Panasonic used to make the innards for everyone else’s batteries, dunno if they still do tho. they made really good tools but just got left behind because they never expanded the range! they where brushless before most of you had even heard the term brushless.

I always thought one of the smaller brands could shake things up by releasing a whole lot of specialised heads for an installation driver. The big players wouldn't do it as they want to you to buy more skins rather than attachments. I was hoping Hilti would do it, but this seems pretty good. Need a nibbler, polisher, die grinder, sander, riveter, etc.

@robertrada6040 i meant a serious brand. Those are dinky DIY tools. What I want is to not have 50kg of skins to haul around to cover nibbler, shears, dremel, rivet, etc. You can already get 3rd party drill attachments for these, but they often require you to hold it, or have a flimsy arm that clamps on the battery.

Haven't had any Panasonic tools in over 30 years. Had some of their early cordless drills. The ones they would probably have liked to bury. They had high speed chargers with them. That destroyed the batteries in not many charges. You got free replacement batteries. No questions asked. Until you didn't. And the tool went in the bin. Think I had an electric drill about the same era. Don't see them around much. Mostly the big three. Milwaukee. Dewalt. And Makita. Would love to try the new Hilti Nuron stuff. But nowhere near any outlet. And a bit pricey. Tough being a tool junkie.

Been using Panasonic for years. Still have my first batteries bought so long ago I can't recall how many years old they are. Replaced 3 impact bodies, 2 drills & one charger but same old batteries lol. Best ergonomics, great drill speed, plenty of power. Absolutely love them. When I seen their tiny impact from Japan I had to grab one. What can I say...they know how to make a great tool (few seem to be aware of). When I get around to it or feel I need them sooner, I'll order the offset/angle attachments one day. Highly recommended this drill, you won't be disappointed

I’d love a compact 18v installation drill/impact driver from the major brands. It’s one of the only M12 tools I have as an M18 version doesn’t exist. A DEWALT version with their super compact Powerstack battery would be ideal as I love my DCF850. I think Panasonic are on to something with this great looking tool.

If you want the most compact impact driver the Milwaukee M12 Gen 3 Fuel is the best. I have that Dewalt and a Makita 40v. Best part is that the battery goes into the handle..Bosch 12v has one similar with all the attachments too. Haven't tried that one, but I'm very happy with the power of the Milwaukee

Nice tool and review, envious of the battery easy slide on/off. Makita 18v batteries are ok but my newish of kit 40vMax real difficult, lots of friction there and as a builder tools get very dirty and it only gets worse. Haven’t heard anyone complain, I have 7 batteries and it’s just painful. I like how with the Panasonic you were able to slide the tool on the battery just sitting on the table, good stuff. That is my whinge for today, thank you.

That right angle attachment seems a lot longer than the one on my Bosch installation driver. The Bosch main body is quite a lot longer so I’d assume that the Panasonic is still shorter. But that’s kinda annoying :) The thing I personally love most about the Bosch is the low speed trigger control. I’m using it a lot in my RV where there are a lot of annoying self tapping wood screws in plywood or particle board. The Bosch lets me remove and reinstall screws like that with very little risk of damage. It’s even better than a manual screwdriver because they go in straighter. So, for my personal use, as tempting as that Panasonic is, an impact scares me :) Thanks for saving me lots of money. I got most of the joy of playing around with the tool, with none of the regret of realizing that it has annoying features that will make me not use it enough to justify the $$$.
