Guitars gain their soul from all the notes played on that guitar and all the places that guitar was played in it's lifetime. It's okay to birth a new guitar but sometimes it's okay to adopt...lol Plus with Fender, the 7 1/4 fretboard radios of the vintage guitars make it more special than the newer style Fender's sold today

I'm fortunate to have purchased a '53 Tele when I was 19 years old at a time (1971) when there was no such thing as vintage guitars, just old ones. I paid about what a new one sold for, and even then my friends thought I was nuts. Just recently, after getting the Pinecaster book I decided to open it up and take photos of the dates, I hadn't looked in years. Mine is clear and undisturbed, Gloria 6/1/53. The neck and body are within a week. They must have been cranking them out back then. Enjoy your guitar.

Super cool signature inside that tele. I’ve been buying some cool used guitars from all over the US & I put the small shipping sticker inside the control cavities. That way the next owner can see where it started before me & hopefully they’ll do the same….let’s start this trend y’all! It’s a great idea to show the guitars’ life & travels.🤘🏼

You 100% nailed it with the slow growth woods (ask old school framer how things have changed (hint now you need a king, queen, jack, rook, bishop, and pointdexter stud now) the grains to loose. That's why strativarias fiddles sound so good. Old ass ice age wood! Imo that tele sounds amazing

I go with the "it's a combination" theory. All wood parts do sound different, even pickups are not exactly the same. One day they make a guitar that hits the jackpot, when literally EVERYTHING comes together. The resonation of all components put together can amaze us. Even when most 50's Tele's are pretty okay, you can buy ones that are amazing. It happens! And that is the reason one should buy a new guitar in a shop: I want THAT guitar, even if it is your pre scratched demo, just because this one sounds great. Buying online, you will receive the not so perfect ones, as well. And you get stuck with second best. Just saying.

I was born in 1955, and envy you for being the caretaker and player of that fine guitar. The closest I'll get is the 2016 epiphone les paul custom 1955 reissue I recently purchased, plan on putting a "staple" pickup in the neck position like the originals had. But a 1955 tele has always been my dream, good for you owning that fine telecaster...........!

Nice playing, nice Tele! Maybe you should consider re-naming her "Gloria". I own an 85 Tele made in Japan and it sure has an unplugged tone that stands up to other new ones with same string size and brand. It's the age of the wood, so I can't imagine what a 68-year-old sounds like against my 38-year-old.
@andrewpearson1903

Some of the things you mention, like the bridge pickup's note bloom and the beautiful-sounding unplugged strum, are present in my new Original 50s Tele, though it has the fat 52 neck and won't be really resonant for another decade or two. But plugged in, yours has so much power and sustain - one of those guitars that sounds like it's playing itself, like Mick Taylor's ES-345 on "Can't You Hear Me Knocking." Great purchase.
