Oh boy, here I go with the tips again. 1. Build your base underwater. As cool as a base above water is, it's not that useful. Underwater, you can do the following things: -Stack multipurpose rooms. If you have a multipurpose room, you can build another one on top of it and connect them with a ladder from the inside. This is also a good way to have your base above water, for you can place the rooms so that some of your base is under the surface, and some of it is above the surface. -Water filter. You mentioned that you didn't want to mess with bleach and Bladderfish are infinite water supplies. How about just cutting off the hunting and have a machine take water from the outside and turn it drinkable? -Moonpool. Moonpool is an underwater docking station for your Seamoth and [redacted]. With it, you are able to access the vehicle's upgrades and even customize how it looks! And did I forget to mention that it also charges your vehicle's energy? It does that. Just make sure you have enough space underneath the moonpool, that's where the the vehicle goes. -Skip foundations. Unless you want to have some pretty plants grow outside your base, the foundations are pretty useless, even if they look good. -There's probably something else too, but I either forgot it or you don't need that information yet. 2. Power As you build your base, you will have to make it useful with a fabricator, battery/power cell charges, moonpool, and a whole lot more! Obviously, you need power for all that. There are the following powe sources you have access to currently, should probably use them: -Sonar panels. Probably the easiest to use. Just stick a few of these on your roof and you wont be running out of energy. -Heat. Pretty useful, but maybe later in the game when you have to build multiple bases. Useful only when you're near one of the heat vents which you see erupting every now and then. -Bioreactor. Do you have too much food for your and your storages' safety? Dunk all of the plants and fish, rotten or not, into a Bioreactor and you'll have enviroment friendly energy! Just remember that this generator needs it's own room. 3. Structular safety. Water is heavy. Everyone who has went to school knows that. This means that stuff like glass comparaments and windows will make your underwater easier to break, and start to flood. That's why Bulkdoors and Reinforcements are a thing. They help your base not turn into an aquarium. 4. Well, now the game even told you to go into Aurora. You have the code, time to find the Captain's Quarters and- Oh right. The place is falling apart. Well, just prepare well. Laser cutter, Propulsion cannon, food, water, all that junk.

One of the best things about Merg is that he doesn't try so hard to be... what's the word? Entertaining. He doesn't scream every word or just yell at everything or just laugh at every little thing hoping to get some reaction. He just acts so calm and collective and says whatever pops into his head. And half the stuff that comes out ends up being very...VERY weird, but funny. KZbinrs who act like well, themselves are honestly just the best ones. So, I'm gonna give you little ,,base construction tutorial" IMPORTANT: You're supposed to have base under water, so I'm gonna say how it works underwater, because I have no idea how it works above water. 1. If you deconstruct something, you'll get every material you used to build it 2. You need energy. You can build solar panels, that will generate energy. Base doesn't create oxygen without energy, but because you're above water, you have oxygen. 3. Also if you build fabricator/radio it won't work without energy 4. I won't tell you what is moonpool used for, because it's written in description of it 5. I don't know how trash can works :D Also vending machine can give you snacks, but you don't have power :D 6. LITTLE SPOILER WARNING If you build too much, your base hull integrity will go down. Then it will get flooded and you would have to build the reinforcement (I don't know how it works above water) 7. I guess you can't build ,,vertical corridor" if you aren't under water. 8. If you build under water, you don't need the platform. 9. You have two plant beds. One to the base and one into water. 10. Just little tip: Don't build base above water, you'll have many complications. 11. COULD BE SPOILER BUT I DON'T THINK SO Personally best place for base is somwhere in the biome where livepod 17 is. Underwater of course :D 12. As I said before, you can reconstruct all things and you'll get all items back. 13. This is not construction tip but whatever: To get the melon seeds, hit it with knife. Some non-spoiler tips: Deconstructing gives you back 100% of build cost. Feel free to completely dismantle and move. It just takes time. Getting in and out is going to be a pain. I'd suggest building lower and entering via a water-based hatch. You can stack the rooms you built and put ladders up/down so you could have an above-water "bedroom" floor above a "work room" floor (and a "bioreactor" floor below that). Your base needs power for things in it, like the vending machine, to work. Knife melons for four melon seeds. This means if you grow them in batches of four you can knife one, eat three, then replant them all. The potatoes are different - each plant gives you a few potatoes, and each potato can grow into a full plant, so eat some, replant the rest. I prefer the melons, but they both work. (You can put plants you grow in the bioreactor as fuel, hint, hint). Moon-pool tip: It parks your seamoth. It should be in water. Moon-pools and rooms (and the tubes I generally avoid using) can all connect together but need a decent amount of space and nothing on the wall you're building on (especially windows, but also Wall lockers, or even ladders nearby. I adore this game, and love watching other people discover its greatness. You've still only scratched the surface (no pun intended).

The only "easy" way to get into your base without having to jump the platform every time (if you're not going to relocate it) is to expand it over the water with an I compartment into another multipurpose room, then build a third multipurpose room below the second, connect them with a ladder, and have a hatch in the lower one. So yeah, you should just relocate it. But if you choose to just jump it every time, use the seaglide, should be much easier.

Oh boy, here we go :D 1) You can use Vending Machine, your base need god damn power for that ~ 2) To enter your base easier, just build something underneath it and connect it with a vertical tube (Or maybe you can even do it without a tube I forgot to be honest). It'll automatically create a ladder (Or maybe you need to build it) so you'll be able to just enter underwater and go up by ladder without acrobatic jumps from water. 3) You can connect your Moonpool to your base, just saying (Moonpool is very important, but you've probably been told about it a billion times) 4) It's cool to have a little base above the water, but it's kinda better to have it underneath. First of all, you'll be able to see and learn how to give it power and oxygen. And second, you'll finally be able to keep your items NOT around one little spot on the whole map. 5) I'm pretty sure any dangerous creatures can't hurt you inside your base. 6) Please grow plants inside, it'll make your life so much easier 7) When you'll go to the aurora again, please search around for some more cyclop pieces, you MAY HAVE not find them all. And the cyclop is extremely important. Won't spoil the whole thing, but it'll kinda make sense why I'm talking about it exactly in the comments to this episode, I think. (You can find the pieces elsewhere, but the faster the better).

Merg, I have some tips to you: 0. I have never seen someone bulids his first base out of water, beacouse seabase should be underwater. 1. Bulid powersouce for your base. Without it fabricator, vending machine, moonpool, nothing will work 2. Trash can is not joke(my two diamonds should know) 3. Thans to plant pots you can have infinite food and water source! Take some of them on the islands. 4. It's time to explore Aurora. You will need many things: laser cutter, repair tool, scanner, fire extinquisher and also scanner. Propulsion cannon is very useful there too... PS: Next time bulid your seabase deeper😁

A tip, somewhat similar to other tips given: 1.The interior growbeds are nice things, make sure to use them. 2.I tend to stash a growbeds full of lantern trees in my base, as they make for good snacks before exploration sessions. 3. For power, I start using the Bioreactor and feed it lantern fruits to start, they don't have to be replanted and give a decent amount of power. 5. Plants don't care how rotten they are when planted, just that they are planted.

Take your time to play around with the base construction, there's a lot you can do to assemble your own unique base. Here are some tips and suggestions: -You can rotate corridors and stack rooms. The vertical connector works in the corridors, the ladder works between the stacked rooms. -A moonpool is essential, you'll see why. It also connects to the water and you can exploit it as a faster way to access the base rather than jumping every time. The foundations above water could become a nice looking backdoor garden! -Get creative, try to build on more than just one level! -Build a scanner room. It helps a lot in finding resources. One of the room upgrades allows you to insert a tracing chip in your hud and locate the exact position of the material you need, all while swimming around. It is very useful, especially for farming. -Be very thorough in organizing your lockers, it helps on the long run. -Growbeds are vital too. They are accessible like lockers, just put a fruit or a seed in them and wait for it to grow. They will probably spoil on the way from the island to the base, but it won't be a problem if you're just planning on planting them. -Spoiled fruits and fish don't go to waste if you decide to power your base with a bioreactor. -You can recharge batteries and cells, you just need to find the blueprint. I'd recommand going on the Aurora next, given also the fact that the radiation from the ship will affect the enviroment and decrease the quantity of fish in the area. Be sure to have med kits, water, a nutrient block, and batteries. Gear up with the scanner, the repair tool, a laser cutter, a propulsion cannon and maybe an extinguisher. -There's more to build that you have yet to scan, so swim around, explore, have fun! Your base is looking really good merg! I wanted to give you a tip: To make your base work well, you need some sort of energy source. It can be quite complicated, but i think the easiest way is to make solar panels on your base so your base can start working like it should!

Hey Merg glad you're enjoying the game! A few alternative tips since everyone's saying the same thing xD 1 - There are various Biomes throughout the world, each Biome is home to specific creatures, plants and resources. Certain Leviathans are also found only in specific Biomes. Try to explore the Biomes extensively. 2 - Specific blueprints are found in Aurora wreckage and crates scattered throughout the Biomes. You can enter wrecks through vents and doors, some of which are sealed and need a laser cutter. 3 - Slash the marble melons with your knife to get their seeds to replant, they are propably the best food source for long term survival, the Lantern Fruits are also great as the tree continuously produces the fruits. 4 - A good combination for power for your base right now would be Solar panels and a Bio-reactor, use growbeds to plant Lantern trees to power it. Bio-reactors can be powered by any living organsim, each organism has different fuel values and some are waaay better than others! When you get the Alien containment you can start breeding fish for food and fuel! 5 - Setup Beacons at points of interests in the world to help you navigate. Flares can be used to distract aggressive creatures.. think the T-rex scene from Jurassic Park :) 6 - Trash cans can permanently delete items placed in them. Fun fact: The 'Sandwich' dialogue about ham and cheese is an easter egg put in by Unknown Worlds, it features the guys over at Neebs Gaming, when they played through Subnautica ^ - ^

Tips: You are actually lucky that you put your base above water, since if it were underwater it wouldn’t be able to produce oxygen for you to breathe. You should put solar panels either on the roof of the multipurpose room (not recommended) or on the foundation that it’s sitting on. This allows you to use the vending machine (among other things). If you want to make extensions, either build the I compartments extending out of the multipurpose room (you can totate them by using your keyboard, I’ve forgotten the controls but it says in the top left I think), or you could add another multipurpose room on top of the original; this requires a ladder. In the case you extend the I compartment over water, you could add another one underneath it and attach a ladder between the two; this gives you a better mechanism to enter your base.

For some reason you can watch the video in Vr Tips: I compartments are just hallways and you attach the vertical connectors via them. Also use bioreactor for power just put peapers in it. And making a base above water is actually harder but yours looks pretty cool

The vertical connectors can be attached to the roof/floor of a multipurpose room as well. It just isn't visible from inside. Obviously there can't be a foundation in the way if you want it to go down.

What i reccomand to you to do. 1) Build a proper base underwater, you want to build your base as in close proximity to many biomes as possible, because that way you will have all important material within your reach. I reccomand build your base near purple jellyshroom caves, since there is lot of magnetite (important material you would otherwise get from Reaper infested areas). Build multipurpose rooms and Moonpol (and moonpool´s upgrade station) ASAP. 2) When your base is finished, spent some time upgrading you gear as much as possible. 3) I usualy do a "supply run", basicaly i spent 30 minutes gathering all materials i can and store them for later use. 4) Explore Aurora, there is lot of things to do. Also you can stop the radiation there. When you do so, you no longer need the radiation suit and thus can use rebreather everywhere. 5) Explore, Explore and Explore! Well except the area where bottom of the ocean suddenly drops at 90 degrees angle into bottomles darknes (aprox 2500m from your lifepod in every direction). If you do so RUN!

I recommend making your base in the grassy plateaus (the place with red grass and sand sharks) it’s probably the best position to put it in rather than the safe shallows, but you don’t have to since you’ve already constructed your base, if you deconstruct items you get the materials back, bases are also meant for underwater areas. Also to use the vending machine you need to power your base and the trash can actually does destroy things permanently. You can do your base your own way though :)

make sure you enter the aurora, you can get all the way through it from the front with about 2 fire extinguishers, a propulsion cannon, and a laser cutter. so you should definetly find a lot of the smaller recks around to get blueprints for propulsion cannon and laser cutter

Hello merg ! You can get seeds from cutting the plants with a knife, Just like acid mushrooms. Also I recommend checking out the aurora but you will need a laser cutter to get in Or a "Cannon" of some sorts...

Your first base is looking pretty good! Here are some tips: *1.* You do get all the materials back when deconstructing. *2.* The Trashcan do permanently "delete" things you put in there, so do be careful not to put in anything important. You might have a quick moment to regret your decision and yoink the item out, but it'll be gone in seconds. *3.* Maybe the Vending Machine doesn't work because it's not powered. You need a source of power for your base, example Solar Panels (the more you construct on top of the constructions, such as on the Multipurpose Room or on the Foundation, the more power stacks up - be ready not to use too much base power during night time though). Usually you would also not getting any oxygen inside your base when unpowered, but since you built it above water I guess you bugged the game a bit. *4.* You cut the Marblemelon to get *four* seeds (same goes for the sea mushrooms). Plant them in pots or growbeds; the Interior Growbed if inside sea base but if built on land you can plant them in Exterior Growbed like the Degasi did. (Protip: Grow Creep Vines by planting Creep Vine Seed Clusters on Exterior Growbeds and you won't have to venture far to get the materials. They do need to be underwater though.) *5.* You can actually stack Multipurpose Rooms (endlessly?) on top of each other. Don't forget the ladder! (the placement can be a bit finicky as you have to aim to specific spots). *6.* I suggest you leave some walls empty in your first room: you can construct more rooms next to your base as *they do connect to each other.* The Compartments ("I"-shapes, "L"-shapes, "T"-shapes and "X"-shapes) act as corridors that you can connect to your room so those corridors can connect to other constructions, such as Moonpool, Observatory, Scanner Room and Multipurpose Room. The aforementioned constructions can also be connected directly to a Multipurpose Room (or Observatory directly connected to Moonpool etc; just experiment with the connections) without any use of Compartments. If the construction somehow don't connect to another, try a different angle or rotate the construction until you see it connects. However, the Compartments are the only ones that can have the Vertical Connector and Bulkhead door. I have also used one or two Compartments as a temporary smaller base with limited but necessary constructions and buildables indoors and outdoors in other biomes of the map to example use the Scanner Room or as a "pit stop" while exploring far away from my main base(s). Just let your creativity flow on how and where you want your bases! :) Underwater is recommended, as they're more effective that way (and can give a cooler/prettier scenery depending on the biomes). That's about it for now. However, I did laugh at myself when I realized something you accidentally discovered that I NEVER thought of during my 5-6 runs in the game: once you get the Habitat Builder you actually *can* deconstruct the Radio and both fabricators from the Lifepod and put in your first base. All these times I just constructed new ones from raw materials and abandoned the Lifepod with its Radio and fabricators once I moved out. You should be proud for teaching a veteran Subnautica survivor new things like this. :D

hey listen ;o Compartements-parts can be connected in many directions. With enough Ressources, you can build an entire Ant-Hive-like Base. But be aware..... *What grows to big will shatter, if it not stands on solid Ground or be hardened* Some bigger parts can be directly stacked to house indoor-equipment, that will amaze you :) *All* electric stuff inside a Base or connected to a Base NEEDS electricity to work. Some stuff works around the Clock, so it will drain energy all the time. Prepare enough energy-sources. As you know, there is a hot hole near you, that provides lots of *heat* around the clock :) your entrance-Problem: Well.....build everything underwater or try to build a Foundation next to your first miniature-base, but a bit deeper....like an oversized door-step. As a hint....the Moonpool should be placed atleast partly in Water...you will see why :) I will give you a hint for future......DEEPER bases: the minimum an autark base needs is an energy source, that can be fueled at any given time, equipment to recharge your batteries and hunger, a fabricator, medikit-fabricator and maybe a storage for loot. Actually....you already have most of needed blueprints and know enough of the Flora, that gives useful seeds, to build such a minimum base. So i guess...you just have to build the right Interior to upgrade your Seamoth ....to finally start your true Journey.....into the Darkness >:D Or.....you believe that its more important to get rid of this annoying radiation and explore all Corners of your Mothership. Btw. did your long-time Fans told you that all Trees in the Mushroom-Forest origin from one really big Mushroom-Tree? A Tree big enough, the Devs lets you swimm through it ;) Who knows what the Devs may hide there. Ignore the hidden Alien-cave in that area :)

How to plant the crops (rotten and decomposing plants work, too): 1. Marblemelon: cut the fruit with the knife to get seeds. 2. Chinese potatoes: you plant one potato. The potato is the "seed." It will eventually run out of potatoes. 3. Lantern fruit: the hanging fruit contains the seeds, so plant one of them. 4. Bulbo tree: plant the samples that you cut off to get food and water. 5. Creepvines are special: you can plant the edible samples that you cut off or you can plant the seed clusters. Basically, 1. if you can't pick up a separate seed, the picked up item is the seed. 2. if you can't pick anything up from it, the cut off sample is the seed equivalent. You need to power your base for the vending machine and other modules and some rooms. I recommend the bioreactor so that you can hear the associated voice line, but try to build at least one of everything for (if nothing else) the voice line triggers. Maybe carry a beacon where ever you go. I have not confirmed this, but maybe when you die (you can reclaim your lost materials) the beacon will drop and you can find your way back. For the aurora trip to get to the captain's quarter's, I recommend: a propulsion cannon, laser cutter, flashlight or flare (since flares don't use power), scanner, repair tool, and an otherwise empty inventory. There's a lot of stuff there.

Merg, it's important to note that whether or not something is fresh or rotten only matters if you're eating it, you can plant something at any stage of decomposition. Secondly, some plants are planted differently; you can pick up the marblemelons to eat them, or you can hit them with your knife to get seeds for replanting them. Most importantly, some Scanner Room tips; if you have the HUD chip you get from the scanner upgrade station, you can see what you're scanning as you explore, but sometimes you need to explore an area (render it in) for the scanner room to be able to find things in it.

Farming tip: You can usually cut a plant with your knife to get the seeds from it as opposed to just taking the edible part. You can tell that what you got is a seed if the image is of the plant next to a walnut-looking thing, which means the Chinese Potatos are already seeds without having to be cut (which makes sense). Just be careful of the coronavirus. Habitat structure: You don't need the foundation at all. The way you're using it, it only serves as decoration. Although, you can place planters on it, but you can also just put those on top of your habitat. Also, note how whenever you place a habitat structure, it lists the overall integrity in the top left of the screen; if the integrity goes below zero, any pieces under water will start leaking and taking damage. Habitat power: Once you get power, oxygen will automatically be produced. The floating air pump is not needed. I've never used it, but I've been told it pumps air out of habitats for some reason. I guess you could find some use for that. And, if I remember correctly, the vending machine works with power. Habitat access: The moonpool comes with a ladder, so you could use that to get into your base more easily. Or you could have another hatch submerged underwater connected with those differently shaped tubes you were looking at.

Merg, I suggest getting rid of the foundation, it only serves to put stuff outside of the base Every base component comes with the pillars, you're free to build any compartment anywhere as long as they're green Build the base components outside, I'm pretty sure the game allowed somethings you wanted but you didn't see it because you were inside Multi purpose rooms can stack, remove the foundation and build one below it if you want a water access (you can also build a I compartment, but you'll need a vertical connector) to access different floors you'll need ladders, or else they'll be closed like without a hatch Speaking of hatches, you can grab onto a hatch just above the water, no need to channel your inner dolphin A base without power only looks good, put some solar panels to properly use them (and below water you'll need power for oxigen, or I guess you could use the air pump)

You can make an I compartment to tip right over the foundation so that if you put a hatch at the bottom of it, you can easily enter your base from the water. (You can put a hatch under an I compartment but not a multipupose room)

Hello there, Merg. Not so much tips today, more of a question: do you need a description of what have you found? The Degasi VLs, and such? Cause you probably missed one PDA, and they lore is quite important. But hey, I'm not going to spoil anything. For your base: you will need the power, if you build it underwater, or it won't give you the oxygen inside it. Also, without the power, such things as fabricators and *vending machines* don't work. You can construct multiple multipurpose rooms on top of each other, and THEN connect them with ladders. Same with the corridors. Base has some OP stuff. Also, go to the Aurora and build a moon pool next episode, you'll like it, trust me. You don't actually need a foundation to build a room or a corridor. Foundations and reinforcements are required for hull integrity - when it's too low, the base cracks and starts flooding. It happens with people rarely, so it's not really a spoiler. That's why the bunker doors are useful - to prevent flooding. Also,.the answers were yes. You can make a base on top of a mountain. When you deconstruct things you get back everything you used to build it. And you don't really have a better way of getting to your base. Cmon Merg, it's an underwater game. No-one builds a base above it xD Also, watermelon seeds can be obtained by slicing them.

To get seeds from that marblemelon, hit it with a knife. Just FYI Yes, anything you put into the trash can is permanently detroyed after a short amount of time. I recommnd building a moonpool and a scanner room. The ladder will help you immensely, especially with the scanner room hud chip.

Lantern tree is the best source of food. everything else you have to take care of but lantern tree just grows and then gives you food and water infinitely. Just take like 2 lantern fruits and get to your base and put them into interior growbed

Even though a base on the surface of the ocean is a cool idea, i recommend building your base underwater instead. I can't guarantee that the moonpool will work if it is on the surface. It is supposed to be a place for you to dock your Seamoth. You were also right by the entrance to the Aurora in the last episode. It is at the front of the ship. Also the Vending machine needs power. Use a solar panel on top of your base. Once you do that you can make the different chargers and fabricators. Sorry about this essay I just wanted to give some tips.

You can use your knife on almost all the plants in the game and get seeds. Like the marble melons. Eat the melon and replant the seeds. And the moon pool is very important for you. Without it you cant go much further in the game. I am loving watching you play this game. I was so mad about something like 4 hours ago and 10mins into your video and I forgot about it completely. The trash can works as described in-game. The lockers have a lot of inventory but you will run out with what you have alone. Keep all the storage you currently have and just expand from there. Use the waterproof lockers because you have them. The standing lockers are wide, but thin. To maximize the area/storage ratio, turn them perpendicular to the wall instead of parallel. That way you can fit five or six along one wall instead of the two that's possible right now. Like this, they are even more efficient than the smaller wall lockers.

Hey Merg, You should try to swim to the Aurora (The big ship). There is great loot there and I believe you need a suit to withstand radiation, in which you might need lead. I don't if you have done this because i need to catch up, but its worth it! You need the laser cutter, it will help. Mini Spoiler (?) 🔽 You can find lots of models there! It will decorate your home and you find neccessary materials in order to progress. You might get food there too, such as granola bars (I think.) You will also reach get new logs. **MAKE THE LASER CUTTER FIRST.**

For getting in your base, you can build out compartments that go over the water then put a hatch on the bottom. So from underwater you can enter your base. Also, you need to build the Moonpool so that at least the bottom 1/3 is under water, and i highly recommend building it, it can charge your Seamoth using your bases power

Honestly I think you should try the Aurora next and go with an almost empty inventory. Scanner, flashlight, repair tool, laser cutter, propulsion cannon, knife, 1 fire extinguisher, 1 medkit. If you take your seamoth you can leave your seaglide at base to save 6 slots since you won't need it and you won't need your rebreather either. You will want all the room you can get for what you can find in the Aurora. Use the knife on the melons and plant them in your base for very reliable food and water source. Also bleach is pretty easy and abundant to get just coral tubes and salt, plenty of that around.

Merg, you can plant almost any kind of food plant even if it's rotten, it will bear fresh fruit (even though that's not how it works I think), also make sure to slash your fruits 1 hit away from destroying them to give you their seeds and give you the full fruit, another thing is you should find something called a gel sack, this will be important later in the game, use the same tip above to get a working gel sack farm hopefully you see this and hopefully this helps!
