That work is just on point! Really well done. I've never seen rollers used like that before. Good thinking. Now I gotta set something up like that. But I do want to hear what they sound like! Also, I think different woods would sound very slightly different, being different densities, depending on which wood one chooses. But, man, the finish looks awesome!

Nice work man, I know Ludwig doesn't make drums liek a barrel the way you did , just ago the reason its so time consuming 1, and 2 I wonder about the sound for even the most expensive drums to my knowledge are made out of plywood. Do you have any vid of you playing it? Im a carpenter and would really like do build y own set but I figure time is better spent practicing paradiddles ha ha,

I’m a guitar builder who is also a drummer. Just got the conveyor rollers and threaded bar etc…. Videos like this inspire me to make my first kit. What do you think about multi layer like mahogany inner and maple outer for floor Tom’s? Snare all maple curly outer edge. Mounted Tom’s birch/maple combo. All curly outer layers on whole kit. Thx for video

Hey, does the router move up and down at all if it meets any resistance along the way? Not sure if it’s because it’s a heavy router but it seems like it doesn’t move up at all. I tried previously with this method but the snare always seemed to lift up off the metal glide rails.

I'll be going down this route. But, better yet, I'll be trying to improve my finishing skills. There is virtually NO ONE who does custom drum paint jobs. When I say custom....I'm talking even if you just want a solid lacquer color. I'm having a custom kit made now, and was astonished at the fact that there is maybe one extraordinarily talented guy I've found who will do it. And, his prices are as high, as his work-ethic is low.
