Hamaji Neo: Gateron Yellows are the best budget switch Akko CS: Hold my lube
@johnyjoe2k
@johnyjoe2k 3 жыл бұрын
To be fair, Akko switches are 3 pin switches, whereas Gateron Yellows are usually 5 pin. 5 pin is preferred to prevent keycaps from looking crooked. This usually only happens on the stabilized keys though as those cutouts are usually elongated and sometimes oversized to allow different layouts (plate included). If you were to use Akko switches on that, then you would be having to check the straightness before and after soldering.
@ephraimsb2277

All nylon yellows are still best I would say. They are the same price as milkies but definitely a fair bit smoother and the all nylon housing gives them a really desirable sound profile.

@Caleb Aikin compared to most keyboards in the hobby, for a keyboard this nice, this is pretty budget, if you don't like the price then just don't buy it
@sinu9226
@sinu9226 3 жыл бұрын
@@jonlovesbagelsthis is still ridicliously expensive, the keycaps are 50% of the 200$ price.. Think about that. You are paying 100$ for keycaps and 100$ for the kit and switches and stabilizers. If you were to just buy a not ridicliously priced keycap set it would be around 130$ that's budget.
@jonlovesbagels
@jonlovesbagels 3 жыл бұрын
@@sinu9226 But let’s say that your using those keycaps and the keyboard for 2-3 years, and you love the board there’s no reason not to get it. just recently finished a budget build with akko cs matcha greens and i must say... wow! They do indeed sound amazing (especially with some case foam imo). Ok so I have no problems with this vido exept one. YOU DO NOT NEED A SWITCH OPENER, OR A LUBE STATION YOU DO NOT NEED ALL THOSE LUBES, KRYTOX FOR EVERYTHING IS BETTER, YOU DO NOT NEED A LUBE PALET, this is supposed to be a budget video. so dont reccomend getting 100 dollars worth of extra intems for lubing. All you reallly need is a brush, lube, your switches, and a screw driver to open the switches, you could also get tweezers for opening switches and holding parts, and you can also get a jewelry holder. otherwise besides that good video its just beginers are probably a little hesitant to get into the hobby if they see they need to get 100 usd of extra things other than the keyboard parts themselves.

if you are aiming to build similar to what he did, you could opt for the HK Gaming BoW keycaps which prices at around $45.00. But, as said at the start of the video, the cost of the build will depend with the switch and keycaps you are using. Am using KBD67 Lite as well and the board is just crazy for the price.

Tried both Matcha Green and Ocean Blue and my thoughts are pretty great. With Ocean Blue, seems like you have to tuning the leaf in order to make it sound properly. Mine getting trouble sound pinging. And I have to use a bit of Trybosis on the leaf in order to make it muted lol. About the Matcha+Pink variants, they have a long stem pole so it'll make the sound signature a little bit thock+ not having trouble with north facing LED board. Tried on my Keychron K6 and it sounds perfect Also about opening the swithches, if you don't have Kailh's switch opener, you can still use you finger nail/some tweezers which have a non sharpening head to open it. Not too hard since the clamping force on both sides of the switches are pretty light.

I like them better stock, but with only the springs oiled and donut dipped. If I lube the stems and bottom housings, they get velvety smooth but harder to type on for some reason.

Hey Hamaji, dunno if you've tried this, but I also lube the top housing on my switches. I lube the little indents above the rails that the stem travels along, as well as the front and back pieces that contact the faces of the stem and it gives my switches a slightly deeper sound signature. Since you like that thock, could be worth trying to see if you get a different sound

Agree with everything said, great build. However, I think you should try genuinely modding a set of durock plate mounts. The end result is on par, if not better, then screw in stabilisers at half the price. People like to hate on plate mounts because they are usually in lower end boards, but there are many great options that give you just as good as experience as screw in.
