Just gotta say, I think yours is the best cat-tree playground, because: 1) natural and rustic elements (great aesthetics), 2) sturdy supports, 3) big platforms (2 kitties can snuggle together), 4) great view (I would sit there all day too, if I were cat-sized), 5) space-saving (built over recycling bin and cat bathroom) 😻❤😻 LOVE IT! One more step she should've done is using a brass washer for each shelf when she was screwing it down from above--it would've added more strength so the screws would not loosen up later on with all the jumping around by her cats. Also use a wider screw for more grip. I have owned several cats in my adult life and am a handyman too in property mgmt, so I do know how to improvise on the fly.

Congratulations on a truly great build, really taking into consideration all the things cats like (the sleeping shelves, the crate "cave", the scratching posts, the rope "bridge", the hanging toys, the view out the window and the shady shelf inside looking onto your sitting room), PLUS it looks smashing and it's so practical to have your recycling and the cat loo all in one place. Simply wonderful! I'd like to see any other builds you do for them, especially a "cat highway" into your sitting room. I'll be copying many of your ideas!

@@EsmeeHeebing -- my two cats have access to a walled garden, so while I do have a big indoor cat tree for them (which has been in use by many cats for almost thirty years now, so it's rather tattered!), I hadn't bothered much because I don't think they needed anything else. I still don't, but your build is so fantastic that it's inspired ME! (hahaha) to do something just because it would be so cool and practical too to have all the cat-related stuff in one central location. I really liked your ideas (especially the fact that you attached it to the wall and made it so sturdy, it's the one thing cats tend to dislike about cat trees I find). Love the inclusion of the bins and litter box. I was thinking about doing something like this between my kitchen and living room, and adding a trash can like this would be awesome. Currently the can is far away from the kitchen because the spot between the kitchen and living room is the best place, but if I put it there it would end up the focus of the two rooms. This way I'd get the best of both worlds, well placed trash and a nice decoration.

I made a smaller version of this a few years ago, when my cats were still kittens. they still love it. one thing mine has is small, rough pieces of natural wood going up about 5-7 inches on the sides of my top platform. The wood does not enclose the platform completely,on the corners they have lots of room to stick their paws out,and play......they love just rubbing against the pieces, and can roll around,or sleep there in odd positions without falling off. try it,they will like it... I call my cat highways(basically just boards, above windows, and going all the way around the room)"catwalks." some of them I made wide enough so they are also dvd and book shelves, but have space for the kitties to travel. And i added a few boxes for sleeping, in the corners. Thanks for making this and showing it on utube!
