Instagram - AdamTheWooATW I’m excited for the future and good I finally have a workout space that I don’t have to travel to . When I’m home I’m gonna hit this up each day. Eating better foods and working out is my New Year’s resolution. No crash diets or focusing on numbers to start, just life changes. I’ll be the first to say I’ve failed at this many times so crossing my fingers this sticks. Let’s do this 2024 !

Making those small changes is the way to go. Even if you slip backwards a bit, it sounds like the overall trend since before DragonCon has been up. Lots of vegetables will change your life and just skipping some sugar. Good luck. It will be great! (The cushion athletic tiles are great. A little bit of joint protection is a great idea.) Elastic bands are also great and safer than free weights for a lot of exercises.

Take your chickpeas and drain them, spread them out on a cookie sheet & drizzle with olive oil and bake them at around 375. Keep your eye on them so they don’t burn. They are so good like that! You can sprinkle spices on the top before cooking to make them tastier 😊

New fan to your channel. I love your adventures moving into your new place have been great. We are getting ready to move out of our first home that we moved into as newlyweds in 2005. After all this time I’m a little sad to say goodbye to it, but moving from a single family with a half acre yard to a condo complex with security that overlooks the bay is going to allow for more time for putting ourselves first. More travel, more taking time to workout in the condos private gym (there are only 48 units & I know 6 of them). My biggest flaw for the place is no place to practice my voice work and not bother the neighbors.I’ll figure something out. Plus, our new place is closer to my parents. Now to survive the next 72 hours and get moved in. 🤞🏻

Great start on your gym. I think a home gym is the way to go. I only work out at home. I became a personal trainer at 52 and recertified as a group fitness instructor. It's a work in progress since I still work full time at Publix. I do recommend more free weights. Free weights and more plates are an excellent start. I also love bodyweight training. Anyway, you will definitely do this. I'm with you all the way!!!!!

Looks like a good workout space! Be aware, the dumbbells with the rubber ends are made from three separate pieces and can occassionally break/fall apart. The ones in the shopping cart are cast iron. Had my set for many years. I use fingerless weightlifting gloves for a better grip and to avoid cuts if the paint happens to chip. A chunk of thick paint coming loose can be sharp. I think you're gonna do well! :) P.S. The grease from cooking might damage your Mickey Chatter Chum (Save Mickey!).

Air fried chicken legs are great! They can be cooking while you make your healthy sides! Having a home gym will make it easier for you to workout on a regular basis. Chickpeas are a good protein to add to soup etc. You can also air fry them and eat them like you would peanuts, sun flower seeds. Make sure you're getting protein with those veggies as well.

I successfully did the fit by 25, 30, 40, 50 things. Work travel would slowly add in a pound here and there. 40 was the best one as I wanted to do horseback riding with my kids while at DVC and Disney and needed to be under 225 (later found out they allow up to 250). Got down to 220 and had a lot of fun riding the horses.

A few of things that might help you on this journey to health and fitness is to start by getting a physical to get a baseline on your over all health. It's important that you know your cholesterol, blood sugar, and blood pressure numbers. Another thing that would really help is talking with a nutritionist/dietician. He/she can help teach you what foods and portions of foods that you need to fuel your body with, according to your over all health, height and weight. It makes it very easy to plan and prep meals, and it doesn't require some specific "fad" diet( keto, Atkins, etc.). The last thing is trying a meal service plan like Hello Fresh. You can cater your meals to your dietary needs, and they provide you with all of the recipes and groceries)ingredients for said meals.

As part of the exercise area in the garage you should also consider having a pull up stand they are not expensive and they are a great workout tool.. Honestly , Adam, there are some great frozen vegetables that are "steam in the bag" so it is like 3 minutes in their bag pop in the microwave and they are done. Look in the freezer section of your supermarket or Walmart. Broccoli, rice, and lots of veggie medleys - so easy. Also, I know everyone is into the air fryers, but if you like hearty soups, chilli, or stews, it is super easy to throw stuff in a crock pot in the morning and let it cook all day. There's a recipe book that comes with the crockpot. I also have started using the plastic liner in the crockpot so cleanup is easy. Crockpots use very little electricity and don't heat up the kitchen like an oven does. Soups/chilli/stew also freeze well in tupperware.

A few pointers as an aging punk who still likes to do a stage dive or two - 1) consistency in your work outs is way more important than sets, reps, and weights. Make a plan and stick to it. Showing up is more than half the battle; 2) nutrition is paramount - prioritize and aim to hit your protein target every day (1 gm per # goal bw), then supplement with veggies/fruits. Moderate carbs. Stop drinking calories; 3) make sure your sleep is dialed in. Shoot for at least 7-8 hours of quality sleep a night.

Good that you have your home gym it makes it easier to follow your plan. The only problem I see is you really shouldn’t block your breaker box with your equipment. If you have an issue you have to move the equipment to reset breakers

Adam, I’m impressed with your home gym you’ve got set up there, good for you! I was in the Navy a lifetime ago, and I still workout to this day. I am older now, so it takes more energy, but I basically do pushups, sit-ups and pull-ups as my core. No gym needed for those, but I do have a Planet Fitness Membership ($10mo.) so I can utilize the treadmill & weights. I walk a lot too, but diet is definitely key. I try to eat REAL food and not too much of it, drink plenty of water and get plenty of sleep. I do enjoy indulging in fast food sometimes, as you can see on my KZbin Channel. You’re doing great Adam, I know you can get where you want to be health wise. Keep up the good work 😎👍

You need to get a mini split air conditioner (Home Depot about $600 for a really good one) with the remote you can turn it on while you enjoy your piping hot caffeinated beverage. Then go work out in a cool garage. It doesn’t need to run all day.

We are going to WDW in Oct, I am trying to lose 50lbs before that trip. Also need to get myself in “walking” shape so I’m not miserable walking around the parks. #50forDisney 🎉

I just did two full days in the parks and then Gatorland today. 71 years old, and Boy did I feel it. I failed to get in shape for the parks but I had a darn great time. Glad it was not hot. Really try to get in shape before your trip.

I purchased a double air fryer last year and I would suggest you get some silicon liners for yours. It makes cleaning a lot easier and if you ever do multiple items for entertaining then disposables will make life a lot less stressful too.

Good for you on all of this! You’ll get the hang of cooking in no time, and I have no doubt you’ll reach your goal for weight loss. Something I do for the core is crunches on an exercise ball. It’s easy on the back and they said it activates the core more than regular sit ups or crunches. Cheers!

Glad to see you are taking a positive approach with yourself. I'm like you in the fact I don't like working out in front of people. A couple tips that you may be interested in. I use only dumbbells for workouts except some machine stuff to change things up. Dumbbell press to me is better for the fact you use stabilizer muscles in your arms versus a barbell, more benefit for the same exercise. The most important reason is if you get stuck you toss the dumbbells aside versus having a barbell fall on you. This holds true especially when you workout alone. The other thing is I bought platemates to put on dumbbells to pick up the 5lb increments and is cheaper then buying that many dumbbells or weight plates. Sorry so long winded. Good Luck ATW!

Cannot say enough how much having a home gym is so nice. I lived in an apt condo 2 years ago and then bought a house in 2022. First priority was a gym. I have a squat cage/bench. Dumbbells and a Bowflex. Next up is a treadmill! Way to go Adam! Happy to see you developing better habits with eating too!! 💪💪
