two things about the torches below carpet: 1. they have a light range one less than a block when under carpet due to the origin of the light source. 2. You don't need to mine for them, I never do, I exclusively use charcoal from my tree farm Bonus tip: you can trade with villagers for either glowstone dust to make glowstone blocks or for lanterns One more thing, I don't know if yall have gravity block dupe prevention but you can dupe the egg like you would any other gravity block
