This is looking really great! Hope you can eventually find more of the orange disco crabs. Really nice fern choices! I've heard some native mosses need to go dormant and aren't great choices for a terrarium. The two kinds I've harvested before didn't do well. I wonder if you might consider doing a moss identification and care guide in the future? Hope your weekend is as cool as this build! 🙂👍
@IndoorEcosystem4 ай бұрын
You are more than likely right about the moss. I actually harvested it from outside my building in mid winter so about 2c outside it might not have liked going from that cold to about 25c in minutes. Though the other stuff I use hasn't minded to much. As for an ID card I need to to a lot more research 😅But that's actually a nice little project idea.

They are quite a lot bigger than standard Geosesarma as well I was quite surprised! The only thing is that they seem to be entirely nocturnal. I've not seen this guy out during the day ever.
@craby64494 ай бұрын
@@IndoorEcosystem well they are the biggist geosesarma that i have ever seen. And cus of that, if females get big enoght, they gets their own teritory, so i allways keep them in a bigger tank then i usually use for gesesarmas. And they get quite active when they fully get to know their tank, but yep, they does hid alot, but they are like bigger hargen. So it really nice to keep them

@@craby6449 Very good points! Hopefully I can track down a few more. How do you compare their size to mandarins? I hear they are quite big as well.
@craby64494 ай бұрын
@@IndoorEcosystem well as you know even they get bigger, they are geosesarma, so it not that big, so it really a small differense. But yes, they are bit bigger then mandarins

@@IndoorEcosystem It did storm recently, but not close enough to affect my area. I'm not sure as to the exact cause, but I believe it's an issue with the power load and distribution in my country. "Rotating blackouts" is what they said. 🙄

Thank you 😊 Yep I have a couple of videos in the careguides playlist about foods. There are a lot of options. But they eat quite a lot of random stuff

Love this build, always excited to hear about your most recent projects. I ended up rescaping my 10 gallon today as some of the soil was kind of sinking into the water. Seems like 1 of the 3 crabs in my tank had died along the way :( At this point, I might just move the remaining 2 in a much better scaped 5 gallon. Will you add a sponge filter and a heater to this build? Appreciate your content so much!
@IndoorEcosystem4 ай бұрын
It's been really interesting to watch this build grow in. I might add some more creeping vines to cover everything even more in time. A 5 gallon scaped well will be good for the remain 2 crabs. You can always add an extra one in as well. This tank already has a heater on it (heat mat) but I only run it during the colder months. But I won't be adding a filter it's required the plants do all the work and a water change every 2 weeks to keep things fresh! Thanks for the support as well! Very much appreciated!
@thediplomat11244 ай бұрын
@IndoorEcosystem ahhh that's great to know, where do you put the heat mat generally?
@IndoorEcosystem4 ай бұрын
@@thediplomat1124 on the back or side usually it just depends on the tanks position
@thediplomat11244 ай бұрын
@IndoorEcosystem sounds like somewhere on the side of the dry part which is what I have now. Do you find that having a heater in the water is also necessary? I guess it depends on how cold the water gets. I have both forms of heaters and being in southern California I'm starting to think it might be overkill 🤣
@IndoorEcosystem4 ай бұрын
@@thediplomat1124 I just use a heat mat nothing else. But my places only gets down to 17c at the coldest so a heat mat is enough. But they don't work too well if it gets quite a lot colder. Then you need more.

Hi, i have a question. Can mold harm the crabs? i've been left my paludariums light on for days, and suddenly somethings like green molds start to appears on the land areas, i've clean it many times by removing the contaminated areas but it keep reapear again
@IndoorEcosystem4 ай бұрын
If it gets bad enough yes. The best way to deal with it is springtails and time. The more springtails the better they will eat it. I also suggest setting your light on a timer for about 8-10 ours a day. No more than that.

@@Sigurdvich I just use acrylic plastic from the hardware store with holes drilled into it. Any gaps around the edges they'll get out of. Especially once you get babies. They can climb the glass.
