Kind of reminds me of my present boat, although it is of an entirely different design. I built it so it could stand being in salt water. I wanted galvanized steel screws but couldn't get them. And bronze screws were nearly a dollar apiece. What to do? I used sheet rock screws to hold things together until the glue dried. Then, one by one, I removed them. Drilled out their holes and replaced them with wooden pegs, which I cut out of bamboo skewers and dowel stock. I used a very similar set up to your oarlocks. There is a metal rod which a loop of parachute line goes over. The loop is attached to my short-sweep (my boat has a rudder. It is a sailboat). Because my boat needs to be car-topped with no roof-rack, its flat deck must be clear. So, the sweep-lock assembly is held on the deck with a single bolt and two guide dowels. Being

Love your videos ... especially the boat building. There is one thing that catches my eye... I have noticed that your rowing oar is on wrong side of the thole pin. The oar should be pulling against the pin and not the retaining chord from my understanding. Same on your oar locks if they have the single vertical pin. Pull against the pin. I guess all in all... if it works for you... it works. I just thought i would mention as i originally thought and did it the wrong way for my canoe rowing rig.

Nice little boat. I remember looking at building one of those boats. I ended up building the Daydream sharpie instead. I can see the practicality of a boat that size. Would be a nice little fishing boat too. Good job.

I made one of these a few years ago, and I found the longitudinal seat, with proper spacing between planks, exceptionally comfortable. Your inwale, skeg, transom knee, and sculling notch are all nice changes.

Well done on the video, rowing with the oar leveraging against the thole pin, will keep you from biffing yourself in the jaw when the small stuff gives... edit: ask me how I know haha

Nice little boat! How much is the weight of it?

I was actually just looking at his 12ft skiff plans the other day. Can I ask how much flair/freeboard you added to it? Your skiff has a nice sweet shearline.

I built the 12 foot, 2 sheet skiff you were looking at. I've got a KZbin channel, Ragtime Billy Peaches.

the cool craftsmanship aside. To get to places where boats become problematic, have you considered a modern inflatable paddle board.

Sure, why not. I'm into non powered craft of any kind. Currently working on a sailing rig for a 16ft tandem kayak. Will have some videos up at some point.
