In the Middle Ages there were actually laws about how a house had to be built and how it had to stand in relation to the street and other buildings, namely always with the gable facing the street. If a house was built directly next to another house without a gap, then the house was completely at the mercy of fire, which is why a gap and later a fire wall were developed between the houses. A city wall should definitely not be missing Either made of palisades or made of stones and a "Roland" belongs to every market, it stands for the protection of the city and the jurisdiction of the city. If you have any more questions about medieval urban planning or architecture, please feel free to ask me :)

A combination of parting out sets, PAB walls and bricklink, although leaning more heavily towards bricklink these days
@chrisstenger59683 ай бұрын
@@1by1Brickis bricklink cheaper for small parts?
@1by1Brick3 ай бұрын
PAB wall is cheapest so i check that every 2-3 months. Next is set parting, some sets are good for bulking up parts eg LKC for light bluish gray bricks, bought 2 for that purpose. But to get what you really need is bricklink, try using the advance search function and look for shops with the combination of parts cheapest. The way i do it is grouping up my search by part type or by colour so its easier to compare, eg. if i want wedge plates i search the colour i need in highest quantity then check that shop for other colour's pricing and compare the overall price with other shops in similar range. it takes alot of time. Online PAB might be good but I don't live where its available so can say from experience.

Thank you, I don’t have time to make instructions, already taking me 2 weeks to put together each episode at the moment. You can use pauses and slower playback speed during the video combined with the broken axe inn (olive green building) in the medieval townsquare set online instructions on lego.com for the upper floors and the medieval blacksmith online instructions for the bottom floor and reverse engineer each segment of my build as i put it together. I think its doable 😊 I used techniques from these sets for this purpose.

Sorry I don’t have time to make instructions, i built it in chunks so that it would be easier for viewers to reverse engineer it from the video. Check the medieval blacksmith set instructions for lower floor techniques and medieval town square set instructions for upper floor techniques, it will help in conjunction with this video.

(a big lego HEY) a blacksmith here. there are a few flaws with your build. the anvil has to have alot of room around it so you can use any angle on it, the water shouldnt also be far away (like 3 blocks distance), and the coal should be slightly more distant from the forge. the forge also shouldnt be connected to both the inside and outside as the weather might just fill the inside with smoke if its windy. The grindstone is the wrong way you barely ever sharpen by standing on the side. there should also be equipment like alot of tongs, "stand" attachments (imagine bolts standing upwards for you to bend metal around, you can place this in the anvil hole), different hammers and chicels (the water is next to the fire? you spend like 20 extra seconds cooling down metal, this is only good if you want to cheap out on oil and quench swords or knives as then the hot water is actually worth it). blacksmiths mostly make "the backbone of soeciety" in medieval times: nails, door hinges, handles, knives, hammers, chicels, axes, pickaxes, shovels, sickles, pots, pans, armor, weapons, belts, locks and so on. its why many people have "Smith" as their family name, they were spared the most in every war.
@1by1Brick3 ай бұрын
I'm not knowledgeable about blacksmithing, I referred to the official lego blacksmith set for this build but thank you for informing me, will be useful for future blacksmith builds!

You use the same techniques to much. Switch it up a little.
@1by1Brick3 ай бұрын
Thanks for the suggestion, most towns in the middle ages utilizes the same construction techniques and builders in general, so the buildings have the same styling, even colour schemes in some places. But i am changing up the colours, that said other key buildings coming will have some variations for the stand-out look to give the town some highlights. These buildings are just setting up the tone of the town.
@angelomedeiros4933 ай бұрын
Maybe because it is for similar types of buildings? Zzzzz
