I would suggest applying Toredon to the trees you cut off, it will prevent them from sprouting.

I do habit improvement & and would help you on your projects , at no cost if your trying to get in more geese you should seed the bare areas with wheat or rye. if that open area is green in winter geese will hit it

Check out DR walk behind brush cutter. I used one every season to mow and cut brush and small trees in areas where our tractor mower couldn’t go (stream bank, steeper inclines, between tight obstacles) Those things are beasts.

The burn is good idea but you need to scrape it off about 8 ton12 inch down the fire will actually promote new and more growth next year.
