I Buy A 2004 Lexus GX470 With Over 200,000 Miles And Immediately Lift It & Hit The Trails!

Tijmen just bought a 2004 Lexus GX 470 to start as an overlanding build to share with you on this channel. He has just fitted a Dobinson lift kit and full suspension refresh removing the factory adjustable damper and air springs to a fully static system.
We decided to join a local group of overlanding enthusiasts for some fun out on the trails just outside of Boulder, CO to shakedown the new GX on the snowy and icy trails in the beautiful Colorado mountains.

Did you bent anything on the front, maybe a tie rod? I don’t think the power steering overheating could be the cause. Either way love the GX I got an 07 with 230k miles and just added a Dobinsons lift kit as well 👍

I bought an 04 GX470 from a customer at work for 2000 it has 330000 miles and still going strong. You can replace your suspension switch with this from toyota. It is a little pocket. 03-09 GX470 CONSOLE BOX HOLE COVER 58839-60040. Mine is stock with 285s on factory rims

Paid $18,000 last year to replace my smashed 2014 Durango. Ya insurance sucks bigly thx to Lefty Ontario government destroying our insurance industry.

I just purchased a 06 with 216k miles for 9400. Needs some work on the cosmetics side but I love the power over the 2019 Tacoma I just sold. The Tacoma with E rated 32s was a dog, even with my speed manual.

PLUS this one- your o4 has the BARN DOOR-- the 460s most all have the two part lift and drop gate-- which wear out quickly and get in the way-- and FALL on you after a bit.. :) 470 is must MUCH BETTER!!!! I have one coming soon- and am having lockers put in front and rear, and an additional gas tank installed where the spare sits to give me 56 gallons instead of 23- also body armor, red dog bumper- and hitch mounted spare carrier.. oh- and updating the computer.. oh- and I almost forgot-- ARB dual Aircompressor and full hose kit MOUNTED under the front hood.. :)

@@mistafivefivesix check on here-- there is a place in Arizona that installs and sets them up correctly-- they go in the wheel well where the spare would fit- and are protected that way- gives you 56 gallons instead of 23. I'll look around for the link.

Get a 10.6 Tesla Style Screen from Phoenix Auto out of California. Had mine a year and their support was good and have not had any issues since my first month tweaking. Makes it like a new car! I have a couple of vids on my page and also have a 2004 GX that has almost the same mileage yours does.

Becareful cause at 200k miles the rack and pinion is old and sensitive blew a each and pinion bouncing off rocks like that in a lx470
