While it’s wonderful to be a 20-year-old prodigy on the fast track to becoming a principal, it’s so much more gratifying and meaningful to be a 29-year-old woman who’s fought through betrayal from your body, your husband, and even old friends and mentors who turned their backs on you, to earn back the career that has always been your dream. You’re a true inspiration to both dancers and non-dancers alike, in ways you wouldn’t be had your path been straighter and less rocky. Sometimes the fast track isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. 💕

I am literally crying right now, I have been watching your videos since the beginning and I never commented- vecause I do not do that very often I am SO proud of you, you fought so hard and now you get what you deserve, you are a amazing dancer, I could watch you dance for hours, in any role. You are beautiful, funny, graceful and you inspire me so much to work hard for my own goals, even if it's hard, even if it seems like everything is against you. You are the definition of "if life gives you lemons"! I know you aren't going to read this-in fact this comment is going to be lost, nobody is going to see this, but I struggle with depression, self harm and bulimia. I am a dancer and two seeks ago I danced without a jacket on and everyone saw my self harm scars. I only had the strength to do this thanks to you. THANK YOU SO SO SO MUCH! I love you and your passion. I can't wait to see what the future holds for you! I'll be there to watch it :) ❤️🤗 love from Germany :3

As much as you probably wanted your comment to be lost it wasn't, I saw, and I am here to tell you no matter what you are beautiful, people love, people you haven't even meant care if you are alive, you deserve to be on this planet and to have an amazing life, just because you might not believe it doesn't mean it isn't true whatever you are struggling with it is worth pulling through cause you gotta go through stuff before you can truly see the light, I hope this helps and stay amazing just like you already are:)

I hope you know how inspiring you are to all people, not just ballerinas. I am trying to heal from thyroid disease not in a ballet company but as a stay at home mom and wife and I too have looked at myself thinking “I don’t even recognize who I am anymore.” I found you when I was looking for others with thyroid illnesses on KZbin and I thought it was amazing how you were a ballerina and I felt like I understood how you were feeling when you had to resign. I’m not in ballet (i quit when i was young 😩) but i have a love for it & so does my 3 year old daughter who will be starting classes this year ❤️ Thyroid illness is no joke, no matter what your career is, it literally feels like your dreams are stripped from you and it’s so unfair. I know what you went through was very traumatizing as well as your marriage and I’ve been here to see you come up from literally the ground up. I woke up this morning feeling discouraged and heavy hearted for really no reason, other than wondering if I’ll ever be back to my normal self, ever. Then I see this video in my feed & I smiled so big. Thank you for giving all of us hope, and motivation to pursue our dreams no matter what they are and no matter what we are facing. I am so so so excited and thrilled for you! I cannot wait to follow you on this journey😍 much love to you!

This might be a bit profane, I hope you will pardon the language because I feel it is so fitting, you are such a complete badass. The amount that you have overcome in order to get back to doing what you love is inspiring in so many ways, not just ballet. Katie, you will never understand what you mean to so many people. I have a group of friends and we're all adult ballet dancers, most of us started at 18 or older. You mean so much to us not only because you put out a lot of information that we don't get in adult classes, but you are so inspirational in that you never stop trying and you keep pushing forward. You are a savvy businesswoman, you're such a great role model for all the young dancers who watch you, and this is such an incredible achievement. I wish you nothing but the best, I hope I can see your before and someday. I told my boyfriend if/when you get cast as Juliet, Giselle, or Alice, we're road tripping out to Miami 😂

I have watched your videos and danced your classes from the beginning of your KZbin career. I’m so grateful for your honesty with young dancers, and for your knowledge, strength and courage. And I’m so so so happy you get to be on the stage again with a company!!! And by the way, you have never been too large to be in a leotard! Dear Kathryn: I just want to say thank you, I did ballet my entire childhood but had to stop once I got ill at age 10. My body, like yours, was unrecognizable to me. but when I stumbled upon your channel you gave me back my love for ballet, and 3 years ago at 18, I went back to ballet after 8 years of feeling like I could never do it again. I did have to leave it while I went to college but now at 21 and a soo to be college graduate I'm gonna go back to class, back to one of my first loves, Ballet. You gave me back a piece of myself that I forgot along the way. You inspired me to get back to dancing and made me fall in love with it all over again. And I owe it all to you, Kathryn Morgan; Former NYC Ballet Soloist and now Miami City Ballet Soloist, One of my biggest dreams is to one day see you on stage and be able to go up to you and thank you in person and maybe even tell you that I got my first pair of pointe shoes, haha. Forever Grateful, Sara

Congratulations and best of luck to you! As a physician and former ballet dancer myself who also has Hasimotos with all the fabulous weight fluctuations etc, I would just like to comment on one thing. Professional dancers are held to a very high standard for physical appearance - understandably since this affects the visual appeal and dancing is their career. For all your young viewers though I would like to point out that there is no such thing as being too heavy to be in a leotard. Anyone who wants to dance should be able to! 👍💃🏻❤️

I really ought to add Miami City Ballet is so fantastic. I had SUCH a massive crush on Edward Villella (founder of Miami City Ballet as Katie of course knows!) as a little girl ... I started going to NYCB when I was four years old when Balanchine was creating ballets for him and Patricia McBride, Suzanne Farrell, and later Gelsey Kirkland, and always did wish that it was Villella who had inherited NYCB. I don't know much more than the beginning of its history and it's recent changes in leadership, but correct me if I'm wrong - Miami City Ballet is probably the first or one of the first major ballet companies to be a totally legitimate Balanchine company being led by a former NYCB principal dancer and major major major star in the ballet world. It is such a big deal, and if I were to presume to suggest a company other than NYCB for Kathryn Morgan it would be Miami City Ballet. So many many congrats again!

I look terrible dancing, and can barely get off the floor. I feel hopeless every day. Thank you for reminding me that there is some hope, even if it all feels pointless. Maybe I’ll be able to get back in shape and dance again during my course too.

I really admire the way you've picked yourself back up and have gotten yourself back to dancing at the level you were at when you left your stage career. Congratulations!!! Well deserved!!!

I am not a dancer, neither ballet nor anything else, but I am here for your class, your grace and YOU! You are such an inspiration and I can relate to your journey on many levels. I was praying and wishing that by some kind of miracle you would dance again because you did not deserve the hardship and everything that cut your career so short. Thank you for sharing it all with us. I'm excited to watch you flourish with MCB. Much love xoxo

I'm a classical singer, but I love ballet and have been following your journey for about 6 months. You are such an inspiration to me, as I'm pursuing a similarly competitive career, and I'm so excited for you! Thank you for being an example of how hard work and determination lead to success!

No one deserves this more than you, Kathryn. CONGRATS! I've been watching you for a few years and your videos have always helped me stay in shape and focused on my body. I was never a serious ballet dancer, though I danced for a long time and since both my parents are ballet dancers with the national company of Portugal, I've always been very into it. I actually showed a lot of your videos to my mom and we used to follow them together. She'd be like "Let's do the Kathryn Morgan pilates exercises?" ahah! Thank you for everything and you enjoy the crap out of your brand new job! I can't wait to see what you do. All the love and support from Lisbon, Portugal

We love you! We live through you. Your struggles are ours. Your triumph is our hope. Who on earth becomes a NYC Ballet Soloist with at age 19-20? You are one in ten million. We knew you could rebound. You deserve all good things. The only thing that you lack is b.s. Time to overflow with joy!

I AM SO, SO HAPPY FOR YOU !!! I AM PROUD OF YOU !!! You fighted and you believed, you worked hard and you deserve it, cause you love what you do. When I saw you sitting their crying, I knew that it is your passion and I saw how incredibely happy it made you. You are such a nice, funny, ambitious and down-to-earth person, not a little bit arrogant or selfish. You help us everday and share all of your knowledge with us without wanting to keep your knowledge just for yourself. I don't know if I could do that. You are great, you have fun while filming your videos and make my day happier. Your videos motivate me and they teach me a lot. You try to make us benefit from every single one of your videos, even of videos about yourself like this one. You are an amazing dancer and such a kind and talented teacher. I am really, really happy for you. Take your time for getting into company life and enjoy that you can do what you truly love again. I will miss your videos, I will miss you, because I guess we will not get to see you and to ask you for advice as often as before and to be honest : It makes me scared. I trust a lot on you and I loved watching your videos twice a week. They helped me, as a person and as a dancer and made me more positive. But you spend so much time for us, now it's time for you to take time for yourself. I understand that and I am so happy for you. Those news literally make my day, because I feel so close to you and I am as axcited as I would be getting into the company as well (which I am farrrr away from :((( ) I will just watch every single one of your old videos, cause I haven't seen them all by now and you made quite a few, didn't you ? We love you soooo much Katie and we will do whatever it takes to support you, even if that means to kind of let you go sometimes ! Thank you Katie. For everything that you have done and what you will do for us in the future. I wish you all the best and I love you so, sooo much 😘 You're the best 💖

Congratulations Kathryn. I'm glad you've been so lucky for this to happen. The journeys of those with chronic illnesses are very individual & very frequently cannot be overcome by putting mind over matter, despite how hard most of us try, particularly those of us who are disciplined ex dancers. We are each blessed with a different walk with different challenges & different outcomes, & I hope you appreciate the wonderful blessing you have been given in yours. Best wishes for this new chapter in your life!

It is so exciting to share in your journey! Thank you for being so open to share your ballet life with us. This is my first comment on KZbin, and I really wanted to congratulate you. I’ve been practicing ballet at my house in Korea, with the hopes of becoming a dancer. I will pray for your complete healing and for you to be able to show the beauty in life through dance at the Miami Ballet Company :)
