I was trying to do a human flag last week & just couldn’t do it so that means I’ll end up doing it cause I’ll keep trying. You make it look so easy.

Unlocking a calithenics skill is like unlocking a door to a new world of movement possibility, with new doors you can unlock to yet more worlds. The human flag feels like unlocking a door to an empty room. There's just nowhere to go from there.

Well, you could climb the pole in this position

I love your honesty: "It's a waste of time.." LOL! I am curious about the shoulderblade and upper arm actions. I know in yoga we always were emphasizing "spreading the shoulderblades" and rolling the upper arms out, i assume to protect the rotator cuff. In this position, are the shoulderblades depressed & protracted? What about the upper arms? thanks again Paul.

I am terrible at this one. I cant get my feet off the ground on the very first progression. Ape factor (short trex arms) bad shoulder mobility, idk what to blame but this exercise is and always has been a train wreck for me

I'm 49 y.o. I was able to this move just about a week and half after started training for it. Then my left rotator cuff started to hurt. I don't know if this move caused it but after that I stopped doing it. It doesn't feel right for the rotator cuff and move itself is mostly good for showing off IMO. :)

He also mentioned that is just a party trick basically. So unless you have some to impress or a kid to inspire, then stick to basic training you will benefit from.

*Pro tip To make sure you have both hands aligned, you can place them at the very end of the bars.
