Everyone who’s run equipment in the woods has had to engineer righting a machine. I love to hear the 2 stroke sing! Keep up the good work, Jeff

Last time I drove skidder was in 83-86, it was JD 540 grapple with winch.1st time I tipped it over it was in Nov, I backed up to a hitch at 90* angle first thing in the morning, I didn't realize the bushy pine tops was froze in the ground from being cut day before, so I latched on then put in a forward gear and floored it, the skidder laid right over. We had two JD 540s and I was near the landing, so the other driver seen I was tipped over, I released my grapple, the other driver hooked his cable on and in matter of minutes had it up right and running. Then I drove around to the pine tops and hit them with the blade...... 2nd time I was pulling big pine tree, it was a little side-len like where you are and like what happen to you, one wheel goes down and other wheel goes up. This time the skidder was little harder to get at, I tipped it next to swamp, on other side was up hill bank, a high bank, so the other skidder hat park on top of bank about 75' up. Sometime times I wish skidders had an adjustable blade where the width could be widen out 4' wider......... In 1987 I went welding and now retired so now my work hours are 4 hrs/day, then I'm wore out.........

i dont like these 4wheel forwarders they are a rough ride and hella tippy ive worked with 6 and 8wd forwarders harvesters and they are alot better also the swinging front might hurt if the center dont bivot most new ones just flip the back part and cab stays up but i dont use these anymore for now i started hand cutting instead and hauling with my old 2wd farm tactor and a rear grapple and love it i do it on my own now instead of for some other company

Yes the newer machines are definitely more stable. Something to be said for working for yourself. Thanks.

Man you turned it over in flat land ! How on earth does a man do it ?

They are top heavy when loaded. Of all the times I’ve done it was in somewhat flat ground. When your working hills and banks your extra carful and plan how your going to get the wood off. That’s just how it happens. I think you let your guard down on flat ground and it bits you sometimes.
