I grew up in North Carolina, and gizzards are a thing, especially in rural areas. Usually battered and fried and yes, washed and soaked in milk beforehand. I have no idea why, but they're good! 😋 I'll have to try the Korean way!

Yes, we also eat them in Oklahoma. My grandma just made some the other day! I’ll have to send her this video.

We also eat them battered & fried here in southeast Texas. So good! My Mother loved to stew them with rice.

My Hungarian grandma used to make gizzard's and Rice every Sunday.... A childhood hug still to this day. It takes a long time to get them tender, then you add rice to cook in the liquid till done. Simple salt and pepper and butter.. Yyyyyuuuuuummmmm

I know in rural PA gizzards are really common, you can get them in any grocery store. I'm not a fan of the texture though.

Yummy 😋 I’m Mexican and we eat gizzards too. My family will make them like we make pork or beef in Chile sauce and eat with tortillas.

@@eddisianc8639 you can use your favorite salsa. You boil the gizzards till soft. Then you fry them till slightly crispy. I add flour to make a small amount of a roux with the gizzards, then add some water, the salsa, and seasonings to your liking. I use garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, and some knorr chicken or beef powder. Simmer to meld all the flavors together and serve with beans, rice, green salad and tortillas. It’s not an exact recipe. It’s to your liking and will come out differently every time depending on the salsa you use. My favorite is with the red Chile salsa but I usually have a green and red salsa in my fridge because it’s my go to for almost everything. If I’m making for guests, I will go with a red salsa. I think it looks more authentic. Simply Mama has some easy salsa recipes. Oh also @LoveKaricooking has some good shorts up right now on some easy salsas too! I hope this helps 👍

I get chicken gizzards from Walmart to make dog treats, I hadn't really thought of how I would prepare them for myself. I will definitely try this the next time I get some!! I really enjoy eating chicken hearts, it seems silly that I never thought of using gizzards for myself

Yeah. Chicken Gizzards sell out quick or are rarely in stock in Walmart, so I also can't believe she found some.

Gizzards are so delicious, in my family is the piece of the chicken reserved for the youngest kids to motivate them to eat.

Gizzards are part of the digestive system, and can contain things you wouldn’t want to eat like grass and grit. They need a thorough washing as well as removal of the silverskin membrane.
