If you coat the end of your pin pointer in clear epoxy it will keep it from wearing out as fast. I put 3 coats of epoxy on mine. You only need to coat the first 4 inches (10 cm) of the business end. Re-coat the tip as needed. If you coat the handle you will never be able to change the battery or push the on/off button. Use only epoxy that has no metal content. Mix some epoxy first and test it with the pin pointer for metal content. Do not use it if it interacts with the pin pointer.

The item you had at the end....see if it pairs up to your seal matrix. It appear that the angled break on the back of the seal would pair to the angled break of the unidentifiable item. It may be the handle for the seal.

I love watching your lot larking about in mud and dirt, but I wonder why no one seems to get themselves a head cam, so you can use 2 hands to present the pieces you find.
