I took my vehicle to a local tire shop for an alignment on a vehicle I needed the next day. After having the truck all day, they informed me that I needed over a thousand dollars worth of front end work before they could align it. Every part that supposedly needed replacing had less than 25k, including the pitman arm that had about 8k on it. When I called their bluff in front of other customers, the counter guy said I should have used Moog parts. All of the parts I replaced were Moog. I took it to an alignment only shop and $100 later, no mention of bad parts.

@@NATESINTERACTIVEAUTO I get having a new to you car and dealing with all the crap of the previous owner who knows where everything is. But that's not a thought those are rotors are gone. Unless you can machine them flat and have enough metal left over to keep them in their service thickness window, that rust isn't surface rust anymore. And the brake pad is softer than the rotor so the brake pad will wear in a convex shape to match the concave shape of the rotor. But as the rust grows it eats away more and more the pad so the pad actually only really touches in that middle portion. But yeah just do it yourself it's way cheaper. Especially for brakes on scions check a Toyota dealers pricing on Parts normally isn't that bad if you take quality into consideration. The top of the line parts store parts aren't as good as the factory Toyota Scion parts. Depending on the parts they either make them in Japan or Kentucky. Most part stores get their parts from those cars from China. Since Toyota doesn't build their parts in China that means they're stolen designs that are close enough to work but not the same.

@@johnantonopoulous6381i can’t believe there is only one comment saying this. Those rear rotors are gone. As a person that also services his own vehicles, I’d be ashamed to be driving a car with rotors that bad. Not only does it look bad but I would also be putting myself and my family at risk driving a car with worn brake rotors like that.

I cant stand when these tire shops just want to use impacts to tighten lug nuts and then when the owner of that car has a blow out; there's no way he/she will ever get the wheels off with what's provided in your car. I do tighten mine up with the impact, but on the lowest settings and then torque it to specs.

I only started doing my own oil changes because of family experience decades and decades ago. I actually bought into the dealer coupons at first and they talked me out of a new timing chain😂 (turned out to be a bad water pump). So far ive saved thousands and probably avoided some kind of dealer induced damages like when they bent the pinch welds under my car. Or how they like to scratch wheel covers.

I worked at a car dealership, i started off being the lube tech, the amount of pressure i got to up sell things that didnt even need done was crazy. Unless it was absolutely needed i didnt recommend it. Which is why i switched to the detail department.

I went to Valvoline because they had a coupon, $40 for 4 quarts synthetic. I knew I needed more oil so I figured maybe $25 or so more for the extra couple of quarts. In the end they said they had to use the upgraded Euro Spec synthetic, plus the extra oil because it takes more than 4 quarts... so after dual upcharges it was $20 more than the dealership.... Although random internet people say that dealerships use the cheapest oil they can... who knows. With al the shrinking turbo'd engines coming out, that will probably be the next upgrade... "well it was $50 more because we had to use the turbo oil"

@@NATESINTERACTIVEAUTO I also noticed the dealerships are offering oil changes at really cheap prices in my area. Even BMW has 3 years of oil changes for $199. But of course it's by the service schedule. .. So only every 7,500 or 10K miles. The service advisor was decent though, he noticed I only have about 5,000 miles per year on my car and said maybe it's not really worth it for you.

I learned how to do these things in my high school shop class over 43 years ago when I couldn't even afford to put $5.00 worth of gas in my car (72 Galaxy 500 ) I can afford cars and gas now, but still do my own maintenance. I went to a Valvoline oil changes where you sit in your car to get your oil change well the oil changed was only going to be $27.50 with the coupon and then the guy working there wanted to replace my cabin air filter I told him not to bother it instead he goes over enforces my wife out of the vehicle impose my glove box down and I told him not to touch it and he went ahead and refused to let me leave with the cabin air filter without replacing it and I told him that I would go to my local AutoZone to get a cabin air filter when it needs replaced or I would buy one offline that guy refused to let me leave and he charged me $55.99 for a cabin air filter by the time I was done and leaving there they ended up charging me $85 boy was I upset with them for the way they refuse to listen to the customer when I told him not to touch something they touched it anyway after telling my wife to get out of the car which is very rude when I tell him not to do it they do it anyway I will definitely never deal with a Valvoline oil change place ever again they are a rip-off and I would say for anybody to never go to a Valvoline oil change place for an oil change even if they gave you a coupon that coupon it doesn't mean anything by the time you're done leaving and everything you're going to be paying almost $100 that will change after they get done ripping you off anyway keep up the amazing KZbin videos
