I've had this tent for about a month now and have already taken it out 3x, most recently to the Mojave for 4 nights of astrophotography in Joshua Tree National Park. I absolutely have fallen in love with this tent. The size is definitely something to consider, but the utility of the thing is fantastic. I slept wonderfully with great ventilation and had a very nice amount of room to change, eat, cook, etc. The awning is great for shade as well. Truly can't speak highly enough of this thing.

I bought this tent for motorcycle camping and back in June did a 17 night tour of Holland, France, Belgium and Spain. 2500 miles. The tent was perfect. Small Pack size in top box and quality feel. I endured about 5 nights of heavy storms and tent did not let me down once. It's a perfect balance of roomy usability, pack size, weight and function. I like the idea I can just duck my head to walk in and out of the porch area and room to sit on my chair and cook. I have about 14 other tents in my collection and this is my favourite. I do have a folding wood stove now and will try it out this winter.

I will look into this tent. Three years ago bought a moto-tent. With a porch your bike could stand in. When i was in Sweden set it up next to a lake. My first time setup. It was really heavy and a big package. I needed to do a dump and did a walk before doing that. When i came back i could see my bike. But no tent. So weird. While walking futher thought " could we really be living in the Matrix ? " . My tsnt was gone and also some stuff in it like the Exped matras and sleepingbag. And some little stuff. Also a big groundsheet. My phone and a powerbank. Totally gone. Everything. Even those things that you hammer in the ground. It must have been a sudden strong wind that had picked my tent and everything in up completely. I had the porch open. REVERZ tent was it i think. I had not even slept in it once. Around 11.00 hours i did ride of the boat. And made some speed to get to where i wanted to go for the first night. Last year i also went to Sweden and wanted to do the TET. 3 bloody weeks of heavy rain. Every day every minute of the day. Sleeping in a hammock. So glad i just had bought a bigger tarp then the one i had used for many years. So i could take one side down to stop the water from that side. Storms and thunder. End of days stuff. Even my Kriega bags got soaked. And the skin on my knees and elbows were gone because my riding gear was soaked for three weeks. I want a tent and it must be bloody strong with half a meter titanium pegs. And 8 mm paracord or schackles. So i never want a tent with a high porch where you can stand in. Bloody h*ll.

This is so hilarious. I picked up this tent in June for a wicked price on Ali Express . Exactly the same experience with documentation, setup and everything you have expressed in the video. Yes I was willing to gamble on it. Our stove needed a new home after getting totally fed up with the TeePee. Had the tent in a couple of rain storms and freezing temps with no issues at all. We put a double mattress in the inner with no problem along with 2 backpacking chairs, stove, lots of wood and a table and we still have room. With 2 persons there is a bit of condensation but that's not so much a Issue when we can detach the inner and keep that part dry. It's exact ally what we were looking for in a hot tent - so happy we found this one.

@@billyharrison602I am going to echo moose. You do not want to live in a tent for a year that you cannot fully stand up in unless you are travelling for a year and need to make sacrifices for mobility. Luke's waterproof testing is not for long term living, it is for weekend warriors. The DWR coating will wear off within a month or two and you will end up using a tarp like everyone else. This tent is pretty great though.

I've had a 3 person Naturehike tent for 4 years now. . its AWESOME. We separated the tent amongst the 3 of us backpackers in the Enchantments, 4 nights of rain, they were so impressed with the comfort and design, the other 2 hikers bought a Naturehike tent for family camps. . I have my ultralight cottage tents, you can't beat them for weight, but Naturehike makes a great product. This one is tempting! ugh am I about to go buy a tent stove? great review!

They do make good tents, but when you buy them you really should buy them through a certain large online retailer (whenever I say the name my post gets deleted, but you know the one) and then go over them with a fine toothed comb because if there's anything wrong with it that you don't pick up on right away the manufacturer will ignore your support requests. That certain online retailer enforces a 30 day return period and will also make things right afterwards if the seller ignores your warranty claims. Customer support is where that company fails miserably and the reason for it is because they don't ship parts or make repairs. Their solution to warranty claims is to ship you an entirely new set up and they don't want to do that just because a 10 cent zipper fell apart or a 25 cent pole section broke.

I have mine ordered: due here in first part of December hopefully. I wish it would have come in a couple of 4-season color schemes like light /dark color combo to absorb sunlight for additional warmth in cooler/colder months. I am curious if I am going to have to order a couple of additional stove pipes to get it well above the tent. This tent will definitely be a truck tent due to the weight of not only the tent but the stove. Thanks Luke, this appears to be a keeper for sure.

I wouldn't gamble $250 for one reason...I'm they guy who will still buy a tent if it leaks in a review if I like it, why? Because tarps solve problems. With this one though I can't throw a tarp over it if I'm using a stove. Even if I use poles and the tarp doesn't touch, it could trap all that smoke. This is why we have you Luke...so we don't have to gamble. That's why this channel is invaluable.

What do you recommend that doesn't have a bunch of super long poles that have to be fed into multiple sleeves etc. and takes a lot of time to set up and take down. (I have the Gazelle T4 and like it except there are times it is just too long and bulky when folded up.) Thanks.

There is a small section of fire proof cloth with a hole it it, that looks fine. My concern is the silver nylon looking material that is around it. Is this silver fabric heat resistant? It looks like it has a waterproof coating and would melt with a chimney in it?

NatureHike tents have a reasonable reputation for being waterproof here in the UK so this tent will probably be waterproof. I would be surprised if it failed. Being a semi geodesic design will also be quite wind stable. A very interesting design especially for a hot tent. I just use a Vango Omega 600XL and have modified it into a hot tent for winter use for car camping with a Winnerwell Woodlander stove. The Vango Omega is over 8Kg but can easily accommodates 3-4 people and standing up in the tent is not a problem.

I'm impressed by the form factor of this tent. Add a quality tarp to its configuration and you can have a nice shelter long term. $250 is a steal! I bought one of those orange pop-up tents to have for a nice size outdoor space while my van was used for sleeping only. I returned it as it was way too bulky and took up too much of my storage space which is a premium in a van. Plus, it cost over $300.

Very interesting tent, and while 9.6kg is a bit much for backpacking I could realistically see leaving the inner tent and those big bulky awning poles at home for winter camping to drop a big chunk of the weight away. Though, I think for winter hot tent camping in the backcountry it really struggles to win vs a teepee style tent like a Rock Fortress which costs less money, has more room inside, and weighs half as much.

Does the fly screen unzip ?? Love the size and configuration of the tent. Can't wait till you do a foul weather test on it. Thanks for sharing Luke.

What a nice design! This is the tent I was looking for 20 years ago, when I camped every weekend. Now not so much now having a camper van. It's a shame, it's on sale here on Amazon Japan for $217. Usually they jack up the prices so, that's a pleasant surprise :)

I'd probably reinforce the tent with water sealant spray or something. If doing this would make it water proof enough, then I could easily deal for that price. Could always double the protection and hang a large tarp overhead if you're worried about bigger, longer storms or intense downpours. I think that with sealant, it might make it worth while. Great review, thanks. Really appreciate it.

I used mine in some heavy thunderstorms in northern Spain back in June and did not leak. 17 nights overall and performed perfectly. Great usability and perfect for motorcycle camping.

I like the concept of a "porch" tent. I wish they had some additional flaps on the porch section so you could keep out rain and wind a bit better on more blustery days. Although the inner area almost acts like a secondary porch or garage. Very interesting tent.

I am a bit confused by the focus and skepticism about waterproofing. With mesh and independent outside tent so could it be made out of regular cotton fabric and not leak water.

What do you think of the brand? I've never heard of them before...
@Im_With_Stupid
@Im_With_Stupid Жыл бұрын
@@richkostner3381 Here is the unbiased lowdown: Naturehike is the house brand of a Chinese factory that also makes gear for name brands like MSR. Most of their gear is really good stuff. I have two tents (nylon Opalus 2 and nylon Cloud Up 1) and two chairs, both Moon Chairs, and one set of trekking poles. It's all excellent gear and the Opalus is like a submarine. I really cannot recommend this tent enough. The trekking poles and the Cloud Up 1are my daughter's, but she uses the stuff frequently and it's never failed to perform. I also had a Vik1 tent and it was very well made, but had a tear in the vestibule. I don't think it was a factory problem, but shipping damage, like somebody nicked it while cutting open the shipping box. And this is where Naturehike goes south. They have ZERO customer support. See, they don't ship parts and they don't make repairs. Their remedy for warranty claims is to replace the entire product and they do not want to give you, say, a brand new $250 tent, just because yours broke a 3 cent guy loop or some piece of stitching came unraveled, so they simply ignore you. Now, odds are good you'll never need to make a warranty claim, but if you do, you're SOL. I finally cried to Amazon about this and they took the return themselves, so if you buy their gear, buy it from Amazon so you'll have some recourse if you get ignored. I would say it's okay to buy their gear. Their tents are only a good deal if you buy the nylon ones, as they're hundreds of dollars cheaper than name brand nylon tents and they're very good quality. Their poly tents aren't much if any cheaper than comparable poly tents from Kelty and Eureka. Their chairs, the version I have, are excellent, extremely good quality and only cost $50. The trekking poles are just rebranded generic carbon collapsibles, but they do have aluminum locks instead of the plastic locks every other identical pair has. Probably everything branded Naturehike that isn't a tent, sleeping bag or chair is generic because they are a tent factory, not a trekking pole or stove factory. If their sleeping bags are up to snuff, they're going to be excellent bargains, too. I've never used one, but they stand by their claims of 800FP goose down when questioned about it. I really want to try one, but I just don't need yet another sleeping bag. When buying their tents, though, you have to pay attention to the sizes and material specs because they size some things (Spire tent) for Asians and they're too short for most adult westerners. They also make both nylon and poly versions of a handful of their tent models. The material specs are often all jumbled together and confusing and it's easy to accidentally buy a poly tent when you wanted a nylon one. Anyway, that turned out to be a long post, but the Naturehike question is a complex one that can't be answered as simply as "Chinese junk! Stay away!" or "OMG, best gear ever!"
