I Can't Believe This Happened in Jakarta, Indonesia 🇮🇩

I began my journey in the Airport waiting for my night flight to Jakarta, Indonesia. After the five hour flight I managed to sleep about one hour, but I was ready for my new adventure in Jakarta.
I arrived at Terminal 2 and needed to take the Jakarta Sky train to terminal 3 because it was way too early for me to check into my hotel as I arrived at around 08 a.m.
At terminal 3 I managed to find a money exchange but none of them would I accept my currency from Bangladesh, I don't know why.
After that I decided to head to the hotel by taking the $4 Airport train, which I must say was quite lovely and an absolute bargain. At just 60,000 rupiah (just over $4) the train was much better than I expected. Spacious, clean, air conditioned and with leather seats.
If you like trains then you would love this train journey across Jakarta becuase I took so many.
Compared to the public transport in the UK here in Jakarta it's much better. A lot cheaper, modern, and more convenient. I really enjoyed this amazing train ride.
The journey on the train took about 1 hour from the Airport station to Mangarai station. My hotel was somehwere in the area of Kuningan. So I know I needed to head in that direction on the train.
But unfortunately there was quite a bit of confusion on how I should get to Kuningan.
After taking the Sky train, the Airport, and the LRT train after leaving the MRT I decided to just get a taxi to the hotel. As I really just wanted to jump in the hotel pool and relax.
Upon arriving at the hotel, I couldn't check in for another hour and I also found out that the hotel swimming pool was under renovation. I couldn't believe my luck!
I'd originally booked seven nights in this hotel but decided to cancel six nights and just stay the one.
I then went to the Lotte shopping mall across the road and bought some very delicious Indonesian chocolate bars.
They were quite amazing. I'd been dreaming about a Silver queen ever since I'd left Jakarta. It was actually one of the reasons why I came back to Jakarta!
I also ate a Zap, Buzza and Take it chocolate bar. They were quite delicious.
The next day I managed to find a very lovely hotel across the road called the Ascott Kuningan. Which had an excellent gym and pretty good swimming pool.
It costs me around $130 per night and was much nicer than the other hotel. I then decided to pop down to the Lotte Shopping mall which was connected to the hotel.
I bought some more Indonesian chocolate and an interesting kind of Indonesian rhino drink. It was yummy!
After that I headed down to the hotel gym and then into their amazing swimming pool. My journey in Jakarta is just beginning and I really excited to explore this amazing city.

Tolong lah KRL, MRT, LRT untuk pegawai pelayanan publiknya dikasih pelatihan bahasa Inggris sampai level high intermediate. ini si Jason cuma nanya "apakah bisa pakai kartu ini untuk naik MRT", kalo ga bisa ya tolong diarahkan ke vending machine untuk beli tiket atau kasih tau untuk beli kartu uang elektronik. sesimple itu tapi gak ada yang bisa jawab dan kasih informasi dengan jelas sampai harus keluar stasion karena gak paham penjelasan staff disana.

Hello Sir, just to let you know there are 3 types of rail-based transportation. MRT (mass rapid transit), LRT (light rail transit) and KRL (kereta rel listrik). Your card was for KRL and not for 2 other systems. Also the Kuningan area is only connected by LRT. So the best way is to buy e-Money card which is valid for MRT, LRT and bus. You can get the e-money cars from any convenient stores like Indomaret or Alfamaret. Enjoy your trip in Indonesia

To go to Kuningan, you should use the LRT. After leaving Sudirman station, there is access to the LRT station. because you don't know you are taking the wrong way to the MRT station. because Sudirman station is integrated with the MRT and LRT

I'm really sorry for what happened because of the language barrier. On MRT station, they try to tell you that your KRL card balance is insufficient, and you need to top up the card. But the problem is, they can't provide the top up because you can only top up that card on the train station (KRL).

gregetan bgt liatin komunikasi yg gak beres, sempet emosi sama pegawai MRT nya knp gapake google translate.. tapi kalo dipikir2 'Dimana bumi dipijak disitu langit dijunjung' benar adanya.. si bule ini sama sekali gak effort buat cari tau lewat google paling nggak, seolah2 orang lokal harus mengerti dia tapi dia sendiri gaada usaha.. ya walaupun bisa jadi nilai plus buat mbak MRT nya, but lesson learned : lo kerja disitu gaada peraturan tertulis harus menjelaskan customer berbahasa inggris😂

It's just because the airport train ticket is different with the mrt ticket, so you can't make top up at mrt station. At that mrt station, you can buy another mrt ticket and going to bendungan hilir station and using taxi go to your hotel. No trains line taking you to Somerset hotel.

I recommend you going to the GBK stadium in Jakarta, The whole stadium looks like the stadium emoji 🏟, Just an oval stadium, in the middle of Jakarta, It looks cool! There's even some famous sausages in the stadium, It is in an Indomaret, The reason why it's famous is because the sausage is not sold anymore in normal Indomarets, It's rare to find some of these types of Indomarets, Also, i believe you can do multiple laps around the GBK stadium, it's a tradition in Jakarta now.

Indonesia have variety of chips snack, might try Chitato (potato chips), Momogi (flavored corn stick), Mie Gemez (deep fried noodle), Kacang Atom (flour coated peanuts), etc Also try local foodies such as Batagor, Siomay, Mie Bakso, Soto, etc About transport, Indonesian have a lot of rail based transportation. In Jakarta we have : 1. Airport Sky Train (connecting between airport terminal) 2. Airport Express Railway (connecting airport to the City) 3. MRT (connecting several station around City Main Road) 4. LRT (connecting several small station around City Big Road) 5. KRL (connecting several small station throughout the city; it is the oldest rail based, cheapest and have more station, but lot crowded) 6. Kereta Antar Kota (connecting Jakarta with another City in Java Island) For easier access in Jakarta, its suggested to buy E-Money Card (Brizzi, Flazz, E-money, Tapcash, dan Jakcard). Once you top-up, you can't cash out the remaining balance, so don't top-up too much. But this card can be used in Express Railway, MRT, LRT, KRL, Busway, or even shopping in convenient store such as Indomaret or Alfamart. Some area need online based transportation (gojek, grab, taxi) to reach. Lotte is Korean based Franchised, the hand-print that you showed belong to Korean Idol Group. It is a common practice not to accept foreign money from a "weaker" or less popular country or currency. For example, money changers in Indonesia usually don't even accept Vietnamese Dong, Cambodian Riel, Laotian Kip, etc. So, it is advised to change those remaining money to USD or any strong currency. Anw, once you arrived at Sudirman Station, you should transfer to the LRT, not the MRT. The "Kuningan Station" you saw on the map is a part of an LRT line. I'm really sorry for this chaotic system instead of a seamless transfer like in Singapore or KL. Did someone direct you to the MRT station? I'm really sorry too for the POOR ENGLISH of those MRT Jakarta officers. They should speak some basic English.
