Do you think it's a prankster at Bethel? Did they source out some work to Fivver and played a joke on the JW's? Or do you think it's more sinister and something that Watchtower intentionally is placing in their images? Whatever the case, I'd love to see you do a video on this. We were always told in the past when questionable images would appear in Watchtower and Awake magazines that it's nothing or that it just happens in the printing process or that it's our imagination. This appears to be intentionally placed. And just so you know...this same image is still on their official website.

Why apostasy? I've known JWs who knew Russell. I don't see the apostasy. What I do see is the transformation, the mutation from the Bible Students to what it is today. A BS from the pre-Rutherford period would recognize elements of his beliefs in the modern JW organization and others he would be perplexed at how that came to be.

Wow Wally! I’m gobsmacked. Music lessons, being in a band, idolising individuals (Even a country singer!) playing sport, concerts, having beards, having any kind of fun, all this was forbidden when grew up. We were so near the end 60+ years ago, my dad even talked about our threadbare ‘Armageddon’ carpet! Like you I think nothing else can shock me but it continues to blow my mind. Consider my mind blown. This is what I would call "Christian Contemporary" and very US Country music, which I know to be often played on televangelist programming and in mega-churches in the US. I'm a third generation, born in ex-JW (but it never really leaves you) who is shocked by what I saw there. You weren't allowed to be in a band, or perform publicly so as not to bring "undue" attention to yourself. I'm Canadian, and things were hard core here in Toronto, Ontario. I was kept in a "JW bubble" by an extremely fanatical JW mother, so although I attended school, there was no way I had a single friend, much less partook in "extra-curricular activities" like sports. School was hell for me. I was mocked, bullied, tormented for being so different. Mom made me wear dresses and dress shoes. Of course I stood outside the classroom for opening exercises and didn't go on school trips, and had to be separated from the class and given a separate assignment every time something "pagan" and seasonal was being done. I was a very grown up 4 year old. On the plus side, because I was reading the "good old fashioned" JW religious books and preaching, I excelled in my studies, and skipped two grades. I never went to a single school dance, or to any prom. Our family was otherwise musical, and dad was a non-believer, so I begged my father to allow me to be in high school Band and Choir, and I have to say, those were the most enjoyable times of my school life. I had "second parents" that took me under their wing when I was 13 that would come to my concerts, when my parents never did. I married at 18. We did the very first Canadian "quick build" Kingdom Hall one late October, very cold and rainy weekend in Brampton, Ontario. I remember our husbands were sent inside, and we sisters were outdoors in the elements, digging with shovels, the heaviest red mud you've ever seen, there were no backhoes or diggers. Oh my, and we smiled the whole time, although we were shivering wet and sore. Now that you mention it, we sisters got the worst jobs. I also remember working one weekend on the New Canadian Branch office in Georgetown, Ontario, and wouldn't you know, it was raining, and there we were out in a farmer's field, hand digging up the grassy weedy mess the entire two days in the rail with hoes and shovels, and who knows where our husbands were. I write a bit now occasionally in hopes that some others reading may see themselves in my own experience. In my case, I had no children, and divorced. All of my family were dead by 2012, leaving me all alone in the world in my 40's. I cannot tell you what a shock it has been. You can't even ask questions. I basically became like a JW, only not, trying to figure out my way in the world. Do I ever wish some of them were alive to see these changes and wonder at their thoughts. The one thing I could never bring myself to do, nor was I interested in other religions, was to go into any other church services. But I have come to know through following US politics and chatting on the regular with US friends, that many US churches, religions are culty in many of the same ways JW's were/are. I think that realization has been one of the most illuminating to me. I only watch your channel now, and I can't keep up with all of the changes. I thank you for all your hard work that keeps me informed, when I choose to be. Thanks Wally!!!

My husband, a faded JW, and I (ex-Catholic) walked into a Methodist contemporary service, complete with a praise band. He would not stay to watch, saying how wrong that music was in a church service. His almost visceral reaction took me by surprise. And he is a guy that really loves rock and roll music. This video, and the comments about "having to be right" is very enlightening. Thank you.

Amazing how it's all changed in the last 2 decades. I had a beard when I wasn't Allowed to. The elder walked out the Judicial Room with me. He tucked his tail between his legs in shame for bringing me back there without One Scripture!!!!! He didn't want to council me. He must have drawn the Short Straw. I looked him in the eye and told him to show a Verse that agreed with his council. When he couldn't show me one I Told him "Unless you have a verse that's against what I'm doing don't Ever drag me to this room. " Yeah, he hung his head and walked out in shame.

Was talking with a couple JW s yesterday. One had seen the annual meeting and was giving some highlights (granted I already knew😂)…. But what was kinda sad was how “high on life” they were about all the changes. You can see how repressed they’ve felt. But what they still don’t see is that those changes prove it’s man made rules and opinions all along. They kept saying, “I knew it, I knew this or that (depending on topic),wasn’t wrong”

Back in the 1960s I went to a convention in Twickenham, London. Being teenagers we were bored with the kingdom songs but at this particular convention they had live musicians playing them and among them was a former 'Shadows' member. The Shadows were a popular band who sang with a guy called Cliff Richard. Some of the band became JWs. Well, this drummer rearranged some of the songs at the.convention into fun, poppy tunes and us teenagers loved it! The Society (as we called it then) were NOT happy and actually announced from the platform THAT would NOT be happening ever again! It was undignified and not becoming of Jehovah's people. We thought they were miserable spoil sports. Now look at them!??

Hank Marvin has lived in Perth Western Australia for many years. He once had a property just out of the city that had a music studio. Young bro and sisters were very excited to be invited there. When Cliff Richard had a concert in Perth Hank played on stage with him.

We left 23 years ago and our memories of the people and the meeting/ministry ets., etc., are not all negative. There were brothers and sisters we were really, really fond of and we had many happy times.... There were a number of intelligent, well educated, intellectual types who, if they hadn't been 'trammeled ' into a life in the 'truth' would, perhaps, gone on to study in the world of education, music or the arts...... But if you've been bought up parents who were totally immersed in the WT and you've 'nailed your colours to the mast', your pretty well stuck! These were good people - solid in the truth - but now the truth has moved away from under them and they're elderly, single, childless and having to pretend that all the new ideas and teachings are all OK! I'd love to know what they really feel......🤨

Soo many are and will be disillusioned Paul....but none of them were *ever in the truth* in the first place. What's being moved from under those that are still there is the *old format* one of restrictive separation and isolation from everything that was once considered apart of satans wicked world,that blueprint no longer works,the internet played a huge role in awakening the minds of the followers. Unfettered information regarding the societies history, minus watchtower filtering and covering over much of its past, has proved to be invaluable to those who prior to the internet took every word of watchtower as *truth coming from Jehovah’s mouth* as the saying goes,knowledge is power. Watchtower is literally dying before our eyes therefore the *new format* had to be implemented to stop the organisation from bleeding out. The hierarchy at Watchtower are re-inventing themselves at a rapacious rate in the hope that those still in will stay, in order that donations continue to flow in. Watchtower 2.0 (covert worldly) will prove to be all in vain,as our Lord Jesus is doing this great work....and it's absolutely beautiful to watch. The days of Watchtowers Spiritual tyranny are over. Jesus knows His sheep and none will escape from His hand,an amazing awakening to Christ is about to dawn on millions of Watchtower slaves....as a born in old timer 24 years out...this is music to my ears.

I walked off a KH job because a Brother didn't want to do the concrete job right. And a friend of mine that had 15 years of concrete work that walked off from the same guys foundation batter boards. He said he'd pour the concrete but had to redo the form boards. The previous circuit servant said go redo the forms and pour. An elder told me the same. Do it Right. Elders back then cared. The new crew is heartless 🎉. The elders from 20 years and from the 90s back to the late 80s are so loveless. Just Yes Men! Look it up in the book and judge accordingly!🎉

Oh man! You are absolutely correct on the voluntary work on these halls! All the sisters want to help even though they didnt know upholstery! We used to do the upholstery on a lot of projects. And my father was in charge because he was the most knowledgeable in the field. Even though he had through go through all the inexperienced elders.

Well that's odd, because in my life, I was the only one who knew anything, and taught myself the rest. My husband was lazy and wouldn't work, but I didn't notice. I smiled, worked 2 jobs, pioneered, wrote his talks, had a couple of nervous breakdowns, kept working, started my own art business, taught myself to make custom lighting and took down barns for wood to use to mill picture frames for my art, etc. He just "showed up".

We have a bunch of them here in New Zealand, always used for JW weddings etc. I was in a witness band but it fell apart as we went our own ways, was real annoying when the elders would drop in while we were practicing, telling us to learn some of the crappy theocratic songs. So we decided to do a heavy metal version of the one that went "kiss the son lest God be angry" they left us alone after that.

There is no such thing called the Watchtower 1993. Don't get too paranoid 😀 Anything before 2008 are listed as Study Edition (I know it's confusing) After 2007 they split the magazine into two types, the one for public preaching and the one containing the study articles for the Watchtower Study on sundays, that was labelled Study Edition. The thing is that we who stopped many years ago were only used to calling the entire magazine containing the study articles "Watchtower", but since the Watchtowers before 2008 was the same for both field ministry and for internal use, it contained 2 or 3 study articles, and that may be the reason they thing it makes sense to call any Watchtower from before 2008 the Study Edition although it was the combined version. So that's the reason you will not find anything under Watchtower 1993. It doesn't exist in ANY language. Look it up as 1993 (Study Edition), then it'll show. It did on my computer immediately.

All I wanted as a young girl growing up in this organization, was to listen to some decent songs that didn't sound straight out of a 1920s snoozefest. Now, they actually try to put out contemporary music to keep the youth who are leaving in droves. I remember my mom telling me I couldn't listen to Kirk Franklin when he was big and being angry because it was Christian music that actually sounded half decent.
