He wasn't making fun of himself, he was finally letting go of all the pain and suffering he'd been holding on to for so long. Finally forgiving his mom. Having a kid changed his life and made him see that there is something to live for, someone to live for. He finally allowed God to clean up his mind and heart. Depression is real and it's a fight. He said the 30 years line at the end 31 times because he just turned 31. So it was 30 years of old NF, depression, pain, suffering, no hope in sight but year 31 is a new light, a new chapter, a new start. NF is hands down the G.O.A.T.

This song pushed me over the edge from defeating my depression. I'm almost 50 and for 36 years I've been in therapy. It was the end of the song with the 30 years of just made me breakdown and it's time to let go of the darkness. Then I heard "Running" which is the last song on Hope, that one cemented my turn around. Thanks to NF and Ren, I've been happy for the past 6 to 7 months with hardly any depression.

His “brooding, black persona” is not something just for his music or him to get famous or something that most musicians nowadays putting on. This is a reflection of his music, and his music reflects what’s he’s going through, all the baggages that he’s carrying is bleeding off from his music, his songs. I never thought that being “serious” is something off-putting. He is literally singing/rapping his heart out, what most of us going through and relate to him, him being “serious” and being REAL is what makes him standout, which is very rare for a musician nowadays, from the ocean of sex, money, drugs, bitc**s, swearings fortunately we have NF.

It's not him poking fun at his old self. It's more about his "real" journey with his mental health and how he has grown . You can follow his progression from album to album. When his mix tape came out and even slightly before that you could see everything lining up to come out with a much more positive outtake in life in general. His connection with his fans and being that voice for those that can't or don't know how to put into words the troubles they may be experiencing and more importantly how to push past those negative thoughts that their are people all over with similar problems. Even you where talking about how dark his music is but you can go back all the way to therapy session and even before even with it's dark "atmosphere the underlying message was in achieving a positive attitude and mental health.

I cry a little everytime I listen to this song....I have gone through hell in life, and when I needed to move on and pick myself up, he came out with this song....He isn't making "fun" of himself. He's in a battle with himself. The part of him that wants to keep him down. The part of him that won't let him heal. I fight myself every day and he has helped me find my footing and I can't even begin to explain how much this dude means to me.

Each room represented each one of his past albums not songs. And the track and video repsents him letting go of the past and moving on. Letting go of the darkness within and coming to the light, letting go the negative and becoming positive. You got darkness and light, dark represents the past the negative and the light represents rebirth ( he is reborn he is becoming the better version of himself) hence he says, “ I’m taking the reins” he now controls his path and his darkness no longer has the hold on him. It is honestly the most beautiful and powerful song / lyrics / video any artist has ever released in my opinion. The way he re traces his steps and breaks down each past album of his to then transition back to explaining how he got to this point and ending it with him officially letting go and becoming the captain of his own ship / of his life story. The way he writes is truly something so beautiful and so unique, that is why I love NF and the work he puts out so much. Mad respect for NF.

His whole life is in his music, listen to the lyrics of his music, he’s not making fun of himself, he’s finally letting go of this burden that’s been on him for 30 years, his music is how he expresses his feelings. Nate is IN----- CREDIBLE! It was him saying he's letting go of all the hurt and all the pain from his past. It tormented him into deep deep depression. He spoke on this saying there was a point where he finally had everything yet none of it brought him happiness. He said "if I can't be happy with all of this then, what's any of it worth? Why even live?" This was Nate finding God. Its a huge part of him now and it helped him find himself as in, who he is today. It helped him let go of the baggage and pain and be what he deserves, his child deserves, and what God deserves from him. The man has told the story of his life through albums and the way he does these videos is mind blowing.

At 56 years old, I can still relate to Nate. As men, we silently go through so many trials and tribulations in our lives. Nate's therapy is saying the quiet parts out loud, something I could never do.

I recently saw NF, IT WAS AMAZING! NO ONE SAT DOWN, I MIGHT AS WELL HAVE BEEN IN THE PIT! I NEVER SAT DOWN, I was RAPPING,DANCING, SINGING, AND I CAME OUT OF THE CONCERT LOOKING LIKE I STEPT OUT OF A TORRENTIAL RAINSTORM. (GREAT AEROBICS, & i never even FELT IT, until the next DAY!) I tell (refer) ALL to do the NF JOURNEY, most of his music is not sung to a person (some are) but sung to an emotion or feeling, its helped him and he's saved lives with his music. Those that understand, he sings to his dark self in white represents fighting the battles we have within. Its genius imo. as you hear NFs music you will recognize all the Easter Eggs from other pieces from the past. RykerRoad does a great breakdown, as do you, but you are a composer, id love for you to do Running (last on the Hope tour) i believe he's speaking to Fear in Running. In Hope, imo, he's reaching for hope while singing to emotions that caused him not to believe in himself (the dark vs the light.) "Was a lost soul, at a crossroad, who had no hope, but I CHANGED THAT!" AMAZING SONG! BUT VERY DEEP. Do RUNNING, please? And the NF JOURNEY, keeping what i said in mind. Not many on youtube do the journey. "I don't know why GOD chose me." (CLOUDS, you will LOVE the TRANSITIONS!) God BLESS!

Man, that was fun watching his video and someone seeing it for the first time. Yeah, I think we stopped it like 10 times and then watched it all the way through at the beginning. It's like a movie so he wasn't wrong. He's uber talented in various areas so wonder what his next project will be. He doesn't love touring for himself, as we all know, but enjoys doing it for his fans. And we just take a minute to acknowledge how beautiful it is to see (most of) his fans cheer him on in this new phase of hopeful living he is in. Praise The Lord for his getting back to a faith and fulfilled headspace. Now, this video makes me want to sit and watch a bunch more of his stuff and reaction videos. He is the real deal, doing the real thing, and being the real NF!

Think about not making fun of himself…look at it from a growth perspective. He has grown over the years as we all do through wisdom and experience. This life is a journey and NF is giving us a front seat into his journey to include struggles and growth…

This song meant so much to his fans who have been with him since the beginning because it ties all of his music together. He has grown so much! It’s been an honor to watch him!
