This is a great training video on the things you shouldn’t do if you’re riding in extreme heat 🥵! I live Tucson Arizona and ride all summer in temperatures just as high and higher! There are plenty of things you can do to help keep you hydrated and cool while riding! Long sleeves, jeans, a cooling vest under a mesh jacket and a full face helmet can go a long way in helping you stay hydrated! Still a good video for seeing what happens when you don’t plan ahead and consider the conditions you’re riding in.

Covering up is one thing so many people don’t understand. If your skin is exposed your sweat evaporates instead of the air blowing over it on your skin to keep you cooler, which is how sweat works. If it is immediately evaporating your body says why isn’t this working I need to sweat more. And more and more. Which makes you get dehydrated way worse/sooner. Pants and a long sleeve white t-shirt and full face helmet makes a literal world of a difference. I keep telling Danny try it 2 hot days back to back. You won’t believe how much more comfortable(Lower internal temp and less sweating) you feel and stay. There’s a reason all the people in the desserts that hit 60c are covered head to toe in breathable cloth.

Ignoring the trolls, the worst thing you can do in this heat is waste your water pouring it on yourself and the ground. Human bodies are pretty good at regulating temps, you drink, you sweat and if there's a breeze you cool down. Yeah it's miserable when its that hot and they did the smart thing pulling over during the hottest part of the day.

I can ride in the low 20s Fahrenheit but I’m a big puss in the heat. I rode across South Dakota at 104 degrees last Aug and thought I was going to die! However, this is what I did to make it. I changed out of my shorts and put jeans on and that helped big time with the heat from my Indian Motorcycle. I had a cooling towel that I soaked every two hours when I gassed up and put it around my neck. The biggest thing that helped me was that I poured cold water over my tennis shoes at every gas stop. The air going through my shoes down the highway was like air conditioning. It was friggin awesome and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you try it! Those three things saved me!

I wore vented adventure pants, a vented summer jacket, a modular helmet in the closed position, put my shirt under water at every petrol station, wore a hydration pack and I froze water the night before so had cool water for at least part of the day. I was hot but happy enough. Next time I would take a cool vest which I have now, and I carry it in summer with me which are amazing, and a buff around my neck which I'd dose in water. I would have easily gone through about 5 lites of water. You wouldn't think so, but difference between 42 and 46 is profound.

I did a trip from Kununurra to south of Perth collecting a bike I bought from a bloke there. It was 45 degrees for the first couple of days. It’s a bad idea to not be fully covered up, as that is just asking for heat stroke. I had a 3 litre camelback. I drank most of that 3 litres between fuel stops, so would have to top it up at each stop. I knew riding in 45 degree heat was going to be unpleasant, and it was. My advice is to start the day hydrated, then stay hydrated by drinking constantly as you ride along. This is a textbook example of how not to travel on a motorcycle in hot weather. I quite like Danny’s videos, but they weren’t real bright with their approach.

I understand having to stop in incredibly short distances. Getting a bit squirrelly, trying to crawl in a refrigerated cold vault at a store. I did all of that. My husband actually bungee corded me on the back of our bike in case I fainted. I did it, but never ever again. In hindsight, my body was a the point of a heat stroke. If your body is not accustomed to your tge heat, you should never just try to be tough and do it.

Recently did a trip from NSW to Darwin then Broome to Perth Multiple days up to 42 degrees Fully covered with full face helmet and water bladder water down jacket etc Did have one bad day where I needed more water than I carried and I got a bit dehydrated, fortunately event staff were around with water and soon after I laid in a creek crossing in all my gear- changed rapidly for the better - like the AC got switched on Lots of others had similar problems but its amazing how much benefit there is with this strategy

Once upon a time there was genuine Danny Hayes and we loved it, now it’s just melodramatic BS. Shame Danny you should have kept it real

I suffered heat exhuastion back in 2015 riding through a desert in Nevada... It felt like I was riding in fan assisted oven.. Managed to get to Vegas and girls @ Hogs&Heffers biker bar saw the state I was in and gave me lots of free cold drinks. Was an experience mind you....

The Pilbara heat can be a bit warm. I spent 12 years working in Newman,Karratha and Pannawonica. And the heat can be brutal but it all boils down to preperation and being sensible. Good luck with the travels, its a pity you didnt go to Marble Bar and see the sights and the old WW2 airbase. But on the way to Newman you should stop at Karijini national park to swim in the gorges. But dont go to the ghost town of Wittenoom. Love your videos Danny take care

Having ridden in 46 degree temps twice, it's no joke. I would have called the boys soft if i hadn't experienced it myself. When the air passing your fingers UNDER your grips is burning you, it's pretty intense. The 2 times for me was Sydney to Newcastle on the free way, and in the Las Vegas/Red Rock canyon area. Not in a rush to do it again.
