I Can't Lose You | Frozen on Broadway Animatic

This is basically an alternate to and takes place during the scene in For the First Time in Forever (Reprise). Anna’s hair is down to reflect her Broadway counterpart from both the tour and the 2020 cast.
I was planning on working on Wedding Song over Christmas break but I just HAD to get this out of my system. And with news of Frozen no longer coming back to Broadway, I guess this is… a tribute? It’s not the best show but I liked how it supplemented the movie, so… once again I offer an animatic absolutely nobody asked for lmao. I tried to follow the style from their concept art expression sheets but I probably failed at it. Sorry :/ (though I think it gets a little… better(??) along the way?) And contrary to popular belief(?), I actually like this as a replacement to For the First Time in Forever (Reprise) so yeah. Belated “Happy” 2021!

There's no official recording since it got added in during the tour (I think?). the intro audio is from the latest Broadway cast (2020), but the rest of it is from the North American Tour (2019) since I thought the Carolines sounded more similar to Idina and Kristen. Most of the audio you can find by searching it up (since I’m not sure if its appropriate to link them since none of them’s official… lmao).

I do agree that movie frozen was good but Broadway was better if fix all the mistakes the movie good the movie is good don't get me wrong but Broadway was beautiful. Especially since we get better characterisation for Elsa than we did in the movie because Elsa had a lot of potential as a character one and they put her toward true potential and they actually show more of her character and give her more of a character arc. More than he did in the original

The Elsa in the musical was definitely better. She explained to Anna why she had to stay away instead of refusing to speak with her. Elsa in the movie was kind of a dick. I understand her reasoning but, a simple conversation could fix everything.

@Jaida Oliver I would argue it’s the parents fault. They didn’t teach Elsa how to deal with her anxiety and depression in a healthy way and as stated before, her magic is powered by her emotions. This all could have been avoided with a few therapy sessions 😂

I love that moment where when the storm begins rage about them and Anna reaches for Elsa's hands near the end of the song. The way you conveyed it made it such a powerful, emotionally charged moment that's just so beautiful. It's something you can't capture even on stage, and it really makes me wish it was in the original film. The interaction feels so much more real than what they decided to go with.

Thank you! Actually imo Anna's heart getting frozen in this version is weaker, as it happens right after this song. Elsa says goodbye, Anna tells her abt arendelle freezing, elsa freaks out, etc etc. The only difference is its spoken and elsa calls for help instead of kicking her out immediately

omg this is so much better than the movie, overall the scene is build and carried with more depth and emotion thanks to small details added, frist off elsa telling anna she was the one who harmed her and cause their separation, secondly the lyrics feel like a genuine conversation between them while in the movie many times it feels as if they're thinking outloud, to themselves. and what was so touching is seeing anna reaching for elsa through the entire song and finally grabbing her hands and hugging her, that was probably the first time in years someone showed physical affection to her and it works as a gesture of anna to tell her she's not afraid of her, its just the cherry on top of a perfect scene.

This song genuinely breaks my heart every single time I hear it . the line I can’t lose you will always hold a special place in my heart, as when I was in hospital a few months back one of my old friends, who I hadn’t seen in a year came to my bed and started playing this to me and sang that line over and over . We both had medical issues and we both nearly lost each other once so it will always be a special song to us. This song is about two sisters technically, but the message behind it is so much deeper and so many people can relate to it in different ways and the meaning behind it is just so deep and beautiful 😭❤️

I have to say this brought tears to my eyes. The emotions conveyed in this animation are so raw and powerful and they just build and build. That scene of Elsa looking into the ice reflection and seeing herself as a child hugging Anna and crying goes perfectly with the lyrics “Please don’t remind me to feel, believe me the danger is real”. It’s masterful. And it’s truly heartbreaking.

Anna’s supposed to be surface-level to Elsa’s feelings in the film. That flaw is very much consistent with her trauma. I have no idea why they made her emotionally mature in this version.

@@jade-ft4jt I mean the part where she apologizes for not understanding Elsa might be a bit too early into the musical for Anna to be that sensitive towards Elsa, but at the same time, Anna’s surface-level-ness comes back in the later parts of the song because she talks about them working things out together and her asking why can’t Elsa turn to her so she can help her solve her problems. Maybe the part about her “understanding” Elsa might just be surface level in it of itself (“you got some dangerous ice power that totally didn’t freeze an entire kingdom, is fine, we can work it out together and make everything okay again! :D”), because as far as I can see, Anna is still surface-level in the later verses. She thinks it’s simple for Elsa to open that door (“why can’t you open that door?”, “We can fix this together”), and Elsa clearly knows that Anna doesn’t know her, because hello, Anna hasn’t seen her face in literal years.

Why does this song give me Hamilton song vibes? (specifically if there was a proper song between Eliza and Angelica) Even if I'm the only one who thinks that way, I can't complain, cuz damn this song sounds amazing!
