It takes just a few seconds to learn one thing, we can either use those few seconds to learn something new, or waste those few seconds spreading "Can't'" through our brain, it's better to learn that one thing, to move forward with that one single step, instead of dig a rut deeper under our feet. I learn ASL 32 months up-to-now, I noticed clear cognitive benefits after just a few months, Learn a little every day, sometimes if can feel difficult, never let that stop us, it's sooooo worth it.

One coworker, he work with Deaf 8 years, I try show him one sign, says he "Can't", I see the glaze over his eyes, it distracts him from learning new things. I'm learning ASL, even though I learn slowly, I also learn steadily, make progress every day. ASL taught me I can do anything, the only thing we can't do is listen to those that tell us we can't, including when that comes from ourselves. By wasting that few seconds on "can't", that coworker wasted those 8 years and he certainly can't talk to our Deaf coworker now, but he would have been fluent by now if he had lifted a finger to do so. I joined that place a year after starting ASL, ASL helped me in ways that are integral to me, that I simply didn't know existed until after starting, that~ is why we learn new things~
