The Lucia Lodge on the coast of Big Sur California has accommodations with picture prefect views of the ocean. I gotta thank you Sterling- I was visiting in the Bay Area last summer, and because of this video, I stopped in at Luke Lodge at the end of a drive down Big Sur coast. Unlike you, I had clear skies in the morning- stunning views, especially from the hill overlooking the Lodge. On the way back, I had a bite at Nepenthe, then drove inland and had lunch at Alice’s restaurant.

Thanks for the great video Sterling. You really are bringing back memories of riding down the coast on my Pan America. Have had the pleasure of the same ride and drive several times when I lived there. It's great to see a road closed sign, no traffic coming or going. Opportunity to see things you generally don't get to. I've ate at the motel restraint a few times. The road was closed then. I had to inspect the company doing the work. Great job. There is still a good ride back to AZ. A lot of diverse climate and scenery depending on the routes one takes. I did it several times when I lived in Payson. Being American, why do we want to go anywhere else. Looking forward to the next journey. You do a great job with the vid and drone shots. Good scene sequence and switching. Music Always interesting. Next time.

The Lucia Lodge was also featured in episodes of Ratched, a spin-off TV series about the Nurse Ratched character in One Flew Over the Cukoo's Nest. I've stopped at Lucia Lodge numerous times for a break during trips up and down the California Coast. There was often a food truck there then, as well.

Sterlin..... when you popup at the Lucia Lodge I knew I had seen those cabins somehwhere????????? just an fyi the NetFlix thiller series "Ratched" was filmed there. I pulled this from the web ........ Ride Safe. The show is set in the 1940s in Lucia, California, a small village south of Monterey. The town of Lucia is named for the surrounding Santa Lucia mountains. Located along notoriously beautiful and winding Highway 1, Lucia is a small community that consists of a hotel, restaurant, and gas station. In the first episode, we see Ratched check in at the Sealight Inn, where she will live during the series. The Sealight Inn is actually Lucia Lodge constructed in the 1930s by the Harlan family and is still under management by 5th-generation Harlans. The motel features 10 cabins and rooms, set on a cliff 300 feet above the Pacific Ocean 😃

Great post, Sterling. I used to ride our BMW K75s here. We tried camping once and saw a lot of gopher holes at the campsite. My wife saw a 4 ft. snake and freaked out. It was an experience. It's a land like few others, But, we've been out for 27 years-now in South Florida. I still have my heart there. Now riding a 2014 GSA and would love another trip there. (HertzRide rents BMW GS Adventures in Los Angeles.) Lucia Lodge looked cool.
