Another good video Gabe. I spend my day doing VFX for Hollywood blockbusters so stare at screens all day for a living. Making beats at the end of the day is my favourite way to relax. The fact that the mpc is tactile and so fast makes it so different from other daws and it doesn’t feel like being at work. I like your comments about just making small pieces of ideas without always needing to arrange and complete. The dopamine comment is bang on.
@hadookin472 жыл бұрын
Thanks for talking about how it’s nice to relax and make simple beats and song ideas, sometimes I just like making a bunch of 8 bar loops. And I feel like it’s good practice and helps get a lot out of your system which helps when you make more fully fleshed-out structured songs

Modern mpcs are amazing. Since I've bought it, it's never left my bench. It does everything. Synths, samples, percussion loops, i run all my synths and drum machines through an interface that's connected to the mpc. It's incredible for live use as well. Paired with a drum machine and a hardware synth, it's a killer combo

I have the same problem but I only have the MPC beats software, the one that comes with MPK Mini MK3 but I've only be working with my 16 keys in my keyboard instead of the drum pads for the sake of being able to access multiple sounds without having limited to 8 pads from the mpk mini. I had to delete the software because I was getting too addicted but I'll come back once I get the One

You should make a beat that _doesn't_ sound like it was done on an MPC. There are a lot of talented people (including you!) making u-toob content with the MPC/Force family but it all sounds like very modern urban or EDM. I am probably going to buy an MPC One soon just to use as a synthesizer/sampler to play from a keyboard as soon as they get the macros from the Force implemented. However, I think barely anyone thinks of it that way.
@terencetso10252 жыл бұрын
neither can i. I've switched pretty much my whole workflow to 100% using the MPC now and redid my entire studio with the MPC as the centerpiece. I barely touch ableton except to mixdown and I usually have to grit my teeth to do it cause i have more fun being in the MPC.

I do usually turn these short beats in to 1-2 minute little tracks for a beat tape (exporting the tracks, doing some basic structuring and automation in my DAW, mixing, etc). But I definitely put stuff like this in a different category from fully written "proper" songs.

Make sure to take care of your ears brother. I used to wear headphones for hours upon hours for days in a row, and now, I can't listen to music in headphones for too long at all before my ears start hurting, so be aware of this everybody who listens to or makes music. We only get one set of ears. Even though I haven't been putting out my music, I have made thousands of patterns on this too. I can't stop making music either. I already filled up two 256 gb sd cards and a 64 gb one is almost filled, so it's pretty much an addiction to making beats...SBN RESONATE
