Funny story about the penguins at times in the Hauraki gulf there's heaps of them anyway one trip we had a young British guy (on leave from Iraq) on the boat anyway he was amped to see a penguin which oddly took a while to find anyway when it did he took heaps of photos. for the next 3 days we saw one like every5 minutes and all us guys hassled him pointing out each one and talking him into more pictures and video etc drove him nuts after a while. @@YakFishField Interesting....100% NOT trying to bust your balls, but why? If it was barbed and non-coated hook, be less damage just cutting off. My mother has been a fisheries biologist for 40 years, studying White Sturgeon. They long-line regularly to sample fish. Badly hooked fish just have the leader cut. What studies they've done say the hook rots out in a week or less. Also, it was hooked near the eye (oddly), all that yanking.... Again, not trying to criticize, but interested in your take on it.
