Was going to be going out to GBI this weekend but stuck in lockdown, I try to get out there twice a year. Funny story about the penguins at times in the Hauraki gulf there's heaps of them anyway one trip we had a young British guy (on leave from Iraq) on the boat anyway he was amped to see a penguin which oddly took a while to find anyway when it did he took heaps of photos. for the next 3 days we saw one like every5 minutes and all us guys hassled him pointing out each one and talking him into more pictures and video etc drove him nuts after a while. Good trip though he caught heaps of snapper kingis trevs etc

@@YakFishField Nearly married a gal from C.C. (Her Mom was a Dr. and her Dad was a Dentist). I was in the Service then, and they wanted me to MOVE to N.Z., when I got out the next year. (Was too afraid of leaving my 3 motorcycles and Friends in the USA, so became a Commercial Fisherman, when I got out...! Her name is Judy Nye, if he wants to find out what happened to her... She can tell ya the "Rest of the Story"!). Haha! Got to see a LOT of the Countryside while there - even hitch-hiked up to Mt. Cook and got caught in a snow storm. Farmer down below let me stay over night and get warmed-up. (Their Summer is STILL "Freezing", to an old Southerner like me!). Haha! Man! If I had the money, I'd book a trip with you guys anywhere... I've fished from the Arctic to the Antarctic, from Hong Cong Harbor to Main (even went down to Cabo for a week, after I got out of the Service - Great Rooster Fish down there, too!) So glad I found your Site... God Bless, and stay SAFE...

@@YakFishField Interesting....100% NOT trying to bust your balls, but why? If it was barbed and non-coated hook, be less damage just cutting off. My mother has been a fisheries biologist for 40 years, studying White Sturgeon. They long-line regularly to sample fish. Badly hooked fish just have the leader cut. What studies they've done say the hook rots out in a week or less. Also, it was hooked near the eye (oddly), all that yanking.... Again, not trying to criticize, but interested in your take on it.

Too bad you destroyed its eyesight, should have just let the hook rust away

And then I’d have a billion death threats for leaving a hook in a shark. Think I’m exaggerating? Go watch my 6 million view shark video and read the comments for some tnertainment

@@YakFishField I see where you are coming from, but its the shark's ability to survive. People outside the fishing community etc will always make those comments... but who the heck cares about that. Its more important to do the right thing, (ie the hook would rust in a few weeks if that) and for those who know will understand. Or dont include that part of the video.

Way to handle that poor baby hammer... could have just cut the hook in half with pliers rather than rip its eye out and damage all of the nerve endings on its nose that it uses to hunt with... weak

My pliers wouldn’t cut through that hook. Didn’t have bolt cutters with me since I wasn’t fishing for sharks. Easy to judge from the couch. Feel free to post up a video demonstrating how to remove a hook from a hammerhead in a kayak in 30 knot winds. Look forward to learning from you.

You should be telling people to stop donating to you at this time. There are really desperate people out there who really need help. Your dream is not important now. What do you say?

Nobody donates to me, pal. This content is free and gives people an escape from what’s going on.
