I caught a huge pike on a tiny perch rod

ELEPHANTS EAT PEANUTS! - big fish on small lures
As you may ( or may not) be aware, my channel predominantly covers lite, ultra lite and BFS lure fishing for chub, perch, pike, trout and sea bass.
Often at this time of year, when the bigger predators become much more active, feed up aggressively before spawning.... i will get into a few bigger fish on the ultra light gear.

You are absolutely correct, I had got it in my mind it was 1 inch… but it was indeed 2”

is it true that you fish with a fluorocarbon mainline on the spinning set it looks and doesn't sound like a braid? good pike always cool on light material. greetings from the Netherlands

Personally I use fluorocarbon because it has low visibility in water, it is more cut resistant than mono and it sinks. I think you would be fishing a highly pressured bit of water for fish to react to the sound of braid. Thanks for watching

@@theoccasionalangler6956 I personally only fish with fluoro. i am also a strong believer of slackline sensetivity. and it's just better for the fish too. nice to see that finally more and more people are switching to copoly or fluoro. here in the Netherlands you are really considered crazy if you fish fluoro. while in Germany a real change is taking place.

@@mona-vdB I know you get better bite detection on flouro with a slack line (over braid) , I feel you get the best of both worlds with thin braid backing and fluoro leader . I come from fly fishing and this is very similar when nymphing… fluoro helps get those nymphs down to the bottom fast

Cracking video buddy. Some lovely fish. I have noticed you like your lucky John stuff. Me too. ( being a john & all that 🤣) Unfortunately I can’t seem to find anywhere that sells the product. Mainly the clothing products. If you could let me know I would have any advice that would be brilliant. ….. Using very small lures is all I do when I do my lure fishing … I would say the maximum is about 2” lures ……. It’s amazing what size fish as you say you can catch on such small lures … cracking video 👍😁🎣
