You are my new Go-To fishing guru. You spend a lot of video time in my "backyard" on the Withlacoochee around Floral City. I just bought a "Crappie Jack Combo" direct from B&M so I can copycat some of your techniques around the lily pads around Gobbler Dr & Trail's End where I live. How about going in detail sometime about these strange little rear mounted reels so new to many of out here - I saw you cranking in some line with one on in this video. IMHO - it's just a handy line tender on a fancy cane pole - amI wrong?

What about vertical jigging with a Capps & Coleman minnow rig?
@brentallenoutdoorsfl11 ай бұрын
Thanks man! And yes, basically the BAN01 reels are a simple way to manage line on the fly for vertical jigging without all the extra weight of a full size reel. I'll do a video going into more detail on them though!

Heck of a fish, congrats!… I caught a 14 inch on okeechobee this year. Lake o has been slow the last couple weeks. I’ve been fishing your favorite canal there, and they have totally nuked it with spray!👎… all the fisherman I spoke with were complaining about it!… They need to stop!
@brentallenoutdoorsfl Жыл бұрын
Man, I hate to hear that. I don't even know what they're spraying in that canal! There's barely any vegetation in there to fish anymore! I think it's about time we start an organized coalition against these clowns.

Any of the paints will chip off if you don't put some kind of clearcoat finish on it. I bake the jig heads after painting them. Then once they are tied, I will finish them off with some Loon UV Clear Fly Finish Thin. The jigs look awesome, Brent! Give them some clear coat and you will notice the paint won't chip and the thread won't come loose/undone either. Tight lines!
@brentallenoutdoorsfl Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tip! I knew about the baking method afterwards, but my oven is from like 1950 and burns everything 🤣 I've actually started using Stardust paints instead of ProTec. So far I'm really liking them, and they're pretty dang solid.

Hey brother, I subscribe to Brent’s Chanel, and was wondering if you knew where on the St. John’s he was fishing? I fish it as well, but I live in l Melbourne FL, and access it by going out 520 East that’s off US1 in Melbourne.

That was a nice fish for sure. Let me ask, I have bass fished forever but started pulling jigs and spinners several years ago here in the Poinsett and Harney, I have caught some good fish but usually only from October til about now, and that has always been out in the deeper water. What do you look for when you stop and start jigging with so much shoreline vegetation. And that was a pretty good trick of opening up that hole in that matt.
@brentallenoutdoorsfl Жыл бұрын
My strategy varies on every body of water, but in this instance I target the right depth - 2.5ft or deeper with dense cover on top. Added timber is always a bonus, but doesn’t guarantee they’ll be hunkered up underneath it. Just gotta be patient and keep moving when it ain’t happening
