I used to live in OC, CA 35 years ago when I got my first bird....we ALL knew not to let anyone even know you had a bird. All the outdoor aviaries had vicious dogs running loose to protect the birds. Big business. Sure hope they find that A$$HOLE!!! :(

Thank you for sharing this video and spreading the word. I'm hoping the bird store owner will see that having their unprotected birds near the entrance of the store was an accident (or theft) waiting to happen. It's only a miracle that the bird did not suffer any serious injuries based on how he/she was battered and slammed onto the concrete multiple times. Sadly, the exotic bird trade (breeding and selling parrots) is responsible for the suffering and homelessness of millions of parrots. Research has shown that pet stores that sell quality supplies and don't sell live animals, are just as successful. Pet stores don't screen their buyers. Purchased birds, just like your birds, end up in substandard and dangerous environments. If this guy would have had the cash and decided to buy the bird instead of stealing him, you can guess what kind of life he/she would have had.

Yeahhhhh - Thank you Lloyd for saving that bird. I'm so glad the bird is back in the store. I hated seeing the bird fall on the ground in that bag. So glad you put cameras in the store too! I would keep locks on all the bird cages. Also, can't this store keep the birds in cages at the front of the store, and keep them locked. (If Lloyd had given him a phone, the guy would have run off with the phone too.) I hope they get this guy.
